Mitsubishi closing Normal, IL plant (merge)
This will be the ultimate nail in the coffin. Sad for the mitsubishi to close shop and not operate in the U.S. anymore. If that's the plan of mitsubishi president and CEO then he is out of touch and not really effective in running the company.

A source familiar with the company's strategy said: "We have no plans to stop selling. We are concentrating on enhancing our selling in the United States."
They're just ending production in the US, not sales.

I know they're just ending production in the US, but honestly I'm surprised they're still around here

Making fully optioned vehicles with one aggressive pricing should be start instead of making multiple cars of the same model.

Mitsubishi ending US production
Mitsubishi will be shutting down production and selling its Normal, IL factory, where it currently builds the Outlander Sport crossover.Mitsubishi is closing the doors on its US production as part of a "strategic move," Japan's Nikkei news service reports. According to Automotive News, the company declined to comment on the factory, and instead said it had "no plans to stop selling" vehicles in the United States. That's not what we asked, folks.
According to the Nikkei news, the company is in the process of finding a buyer for is Normal, IL factory, which it opened as part of a joint venture with Chrysler back in 1988. The facility currently employs 918 UAW workers, whose jobs Mitsubishi is attempting to save as part of its negotiations with labor reps. The Normal plant is the only Japanese production facility with UAW representation, Automotive News reports.
Normal is responsible for production of the Outlander Sport, building nearly 70,000 examples last year. Production is continuing on, according to the vice president for the local UAW Local, Kyle Young.
"We haven't heard anything," Young told AN in a phone interview. "We're supposed to have negotiations coming up" in August.
It's not clear how much the Mitsubishi will be selling the Normal plant for, nor is it clear if any parties are interested in picking up the facility, which contributes around $120 million to the local economy each year.

Guess who made the first adaptive cruise control in their vehicles? Direct injection? Etc? Mitsubishi! Now they're pretty standard in all vehicles and they take them out? Unless they're making royalties in these techs, I think they should have made a long term plan. Discontinuing the Evo should not have been one of them. Without the Evo, they are just like Suzuki car division, Isuzu etc.
They're trying to save those plant jobs at Normal, IL per an article I read.
Cypress, CA hq isn't going anywhere.
The only vehicle that is built at that plant is the Outlander Sport, and the first two years, it was built in Japan.
If they were going to pull the dealership network out of the country, the news would be much bigger.

If this is true hopefully there a bright future vs going out like the daewoo where it was a bogo sale price.
i dont care , Evo never been build in the USA.
Besides USA is a very small market for Mitsubishi auto , always been .
Top of everything else , they stopped making evos. so from this point i dont care what happens whit them. Until they start making something interesting again as the Evo. I just hope this time they wont wait 10+ year before they bring it here . lol

I like the eclipse with the 4G63. Kinda like a watered down old evo with two doors. If Mitsubishi wants to make interesting cars they should revive the AWD Eclipse and an electric 3000GT.
I hope they don't move out of the US. Parts support is important.
