Being 19 and owning a few sports cars so far i get questions like this a lot..
(I never talk about my car to people like this, they must just be following my build haha)
"Why do you spend so much on your car?"
"Why do you need that it's point A to B?"
"Why didn't you buy a House?"
"Why do you need a car for social status"
"I'm genuinely interested to hear the whole story of how you acquired your car. Who paid for your previous one, and if you had a cosigner on this one."

and this one is for the girls, "Why do you take so many pictures of your car?"

Most of the time these questions aren't asked by friends or family though.
My family has been really supportive of me. Except when i first pulled in my driveway, my 40yr old cousin was pissed, he got over it and now were cool and he has a brand new turbo diesel truck he just bought!

I usually say things like

"it's none of your business, why do you spend so much on Alcohol,drugs, and cigarettes?"

"Because life is too short to drive a boring car and be unhappy"

"Because racecar"

"I never bought a car for social status, why do you feel a need to constantly criticize others, inferior complex?"

"Im sure you are interested because you question it rather than actually care about the real story. It's sad you question my achievements because it's based off my age.
No one ever paid for my cars or parts."

^I should use some of these they're really good! If someone usually ask why I did/do something I usually just say just because. Yeah I've been asked many times and it got to that point i don't even bother with a good response.

It's interesting you asked this, OP, because one of my manager asked me the same a few days ago. So I took her out in the Evo, the cruise gave us so many smiles per gallon. and then I guess the question answered itself, lol.
