Case in point? Unless you're talking quarter miles or launches I don't think you've got much of a point.

??
RWD cars, in general, cost less and out perform most FWD cars. Granted there are exceptions to both.

Most RWD cars are v6's or v8s...apples and oranges.

Nonetheless, if an FWD car puts more of its power down and has more traction but a RWD car if faster in the end, why bother with FWD in the first place?

I remember watching an AWD DSM take on a Lingenfelter Vette, the guy in the DSM yelled "I got AWD, we'll rip ya out of the hole." So what? The Vette absolutly destroyed the DSM in the end.

Because FWD's do better in inclement weather and handle turns better because the turning wheels have traction.

...And I don't see where the GSX comes into play at all. Plus AWD means much more drivetrain loss. Quick launches, but they can't keep up once a FWD or RWD's wheels get traction. And again...turbo4 vs v8. Think displacement, think cost of cars. Apples and oranges. We're way off from where we started.

I was trying to point out how the argument: "This car puts down power even though that car is faster." I think someone said, on the first page, "FWD put more of their power down." Or something to that extent. That got me thinking, if my car put more of its power to the wheels but still lost, whats the point?

Also, v8s have been proven time and time again to cost less and end up being faster than more expensive 4 cyclinders. If I was thinking cost/benefit I would rather go with a RWD v8 than a FWD turbo 4.

I dont live in an area with bad weather, but if I did, id still rather use AWD than FWD. Best of both worlds.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...highlight=neon <---bustin' the olio skewl link. As for most RWD cars being the larger displacement pushrod beasts, I think it may have to do with the possibility that RWD vehicles lose a bit more power in the transmission process (greater distance) than FWD vehicles. Then you take into the fact that most FWD vehicles are low powered small displacement engines, you don't want to lose more power in the process than you already are.

It really depends on the cars. I dunno what you mean as proof...but I won't argue either because I know it goes both ways.

As for weather...you're not the majority of people who buy cars.

Pretend you're not yourself. Pretend you're trying to sell a compact sports car to the American populus that will compete with the HUGE import sport car market. You need a car with mass appeal that doesn't cost a buttload to manufactur. Using an existing car (the Neon) will help cut costs and bring you a fanbase (presumably).

I totally agree with you on that last part. It would be way to costly to build a whole new car to compete with everyone else. Hmm, I just did a quick look on Edmunds.com, Dodge dosnt even build a RWD car besides the Viper.

You mean inside mufflers? j/k I haven't read it. Lemme see if I can find something on it for anyone else who's interested.
