trading in for R32?
well, i went to look at one this past weekend, and let me tell you the exhaust note on the car is farking amazing! the interior's nice, but i don't see what the big deal is... not too many on the road... but i honestly don't think it's worth the price... but if you're comfortable with the price, i say go for it!
the greenwich vw dealer says $30,700. im goin for it.. gotta get put on the waiting list and they will let me know when one becomes available.. im psyched.. i hope they can hook me up. and i hope i get the blue.. hehe..
Let me see if I get this...you are trading up from a Lancer OZ...that sounds good. But you are trading up to a nearly $31K VW Golf??? I am sorry, I dont give a good god damn what is under the hodd of that thing, THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL THAT CAR IS IN MY DRIVEWAY OVER AN EVO!!!!! That car could have 450hp and 500tq and you can still gimme an Evo. There is no substituting the fact that it is a Golf. And now you can probably get a new Evo for about $26K...no brainer is right and it doesnt point to Volkswagon. But you do have one thing right...you need to ditch the OZ.

Although the R32 doesn't quite deviate from the normal Golf as much as the Evo deviates from the normal Lancer, it is most definitely on a level far above that of the standard Golf that you see driving down the street. The R32 has a more powerful engine, a better transmission, AWD (instead of FWD), better brakes, an upgraded suspension, and different interior/exterior aesthetics. Sounds suspiciously like the differences between the Evo and Lancer OZ, doesn't it?
And, yes, I know that the Evo has a stiffer frame than the standard Lancer and shares virtually no parts with a normal Lancer, but the fact remains that it is called a Lancer Evolution for a reason. The Lancer Evolution, as well as the R32 Golf, is named after the platform on which it is built. To say that they are completely divorced from their little siblings is just as false as saying that they are "just $30k Lancers/Golfs" as so many who are ill informed on the true potential of these cars often do.
It still is a little VW hatchback Golf! Period. You can go on and on about the engine and tranny and differences in the car as w whole, but the fact is it will always look like a Golf and the Evo will always look like an Evo. And once more time, this Golf is nearly $5K more than you can get an Evo for. And for the record, I would take my $16K Lancer Ralliart over the $32K VW R32.
