New competitor

Is there a reason why there are rumors about Mitsubishi introducing an evolution 8 MR in the US.
Maybe it is no Subaru this time but Honda:
4WD + Active central differential and something nummular to the yaw control.
If interested keep reading in:

Their system uses electromagnets ... our uses hydraulics...

but a lot of the features are the same in some respects.

Ah well competition is good.... this is the last place i would have expected such AWD tech from..

"A world’s first, the SH-AWD system combines front-rear torque distribution control with independently regulated torque distribution to the left and right rear wheels to freely distribute the optimum amount of torque to all four wheels in accordance with driving conditions"

World's first my ***...... {me gives honda the finger}

this will be on the acura RL first, which is kinda sluggish and heavy anyhow.. its luxury car... then again its probably just a testbed to see if it can work well in cars like TSX, accords and si's.

How heavy would the RL be with this extra system? It's already at 3920 lbs.

MSRP on this thing is already at 45k

The current RL has been out forever, acura only sells a few thousand of them since the TL is so vastly superior at this point. If the TL is any indication the new RL will be a fantastic car, from both a performance and appearance standpoint. I love the look of the new TL. ANd it's a Honda, so no reliability, resale value issues. Hondas are always the easiest cars to recommend to your friends because you know they won't kill you later...

Its a nice piece of technology, but the Evo's active driveline should be a lot stronger esp. for Group N use.

The back end is a complete rip off of the SL500. I thought the same about the new Accord 2-door coupe. Sounds interesting though. Front looks nice too!

So, does it simulate FWD then send power to the rear wheels (aka Audi), does it simulate RWD then send power to the fronts (aka Nissan), or is it a constant split?

finally they decide to update that pos RL... for a flagship model, honda sure wasn't setting a very hot tone... hopefully this will rejuvenate the RL.... the exterior looks awesome... i think the drawing is a little misleading..i'd expect it to have more to do with the tl/tsx styling than the USDM accord...
