I usually hold on to my cars until the wheels fall off.

But if I had to swap, I would be a C6 or C7 Z06.

I kept my Evo X but bought a C7 Z51 in late 2014. I still have the Evo and drive it frequently. I just traded in the C7 for a Ford Raptor (2018). The Raptor is amazing!

I think if I actually replace the Evo X as my fun / modding car, it would be replaced with a C5 Z06 or a Z4 M Coupe.

E92 M3 is the car I'd really like to get into next. I've also contemplated a 135i + bolt ons + JB4. Not a big fan of the looks but "cheap" easy power.

I think the only thing I could fully replace the X with is an earlier model Evo. I don't think there's any other single car out there that can satisfy my needs, and do all the things I use my X for in the same way or better. Definitely nothing remotely close, for the same price.

Same. Doesn't seem like it's extremely common but common enough to worry me. It would have to be the right low mileage car.

It's certainly one of the last of it's kind.. from BMW and automakers in general. The only real V8 options these days aren't for me.

I'd still like to own a 8 or 9 at some point. Not sure I'd ever daily one though like I would an X.. but would love one for a track/weekend car.

it seems common-ish to me - i wonder how many are actually tracking that sort of thing before a failure. i'm pretty ocd about cars so i'd probably be doing UOAs religiously but still. it's not like it's a quick fix

Premature bearing wear seems to be common from the bearings that are pulled as preventative maintenance but I don't think the overall failure rate is all that high. What worries me is there is no conclusive evidence as to what actually causes the issue.

It seems very hit or miss. Some cars with multiple track days and 200K+ miles that have had no issues on original bearings... while others failed at <10K. I wouldn't discount driving habbits from being a big factor either (lugging the engine, especially before warmed up).

I'd probably budget for replacing them if looking for one w/ no warranty intact... and make sure to get regular UOAs done. I think I may be talking myself out of wanting one
