Sold in Puerto Rico so federally safety certified. Mazda happens to CARB certify it too, so all 50 states are cool.
6spd manual with a muscular 1.5 liter. Snap off a couple redline shifts and be under the speed limit.

The reason we don’t usually talk about this is because Puerto Rico typically doesn’t get any cars that the mainland doesn’t. Because they have to meet all federal standards, it usually doesn’t make sense to sell a model in a U.S. territory when they could sell it throughout the country without having to change the car.
PR was the only place in where you were able to get a
- Mitsubishi Technica
- Mitsubishi Nativa
- Hyundai Brio
I went early this summer and was amazed on how many Yaris Sedan (Mazda2) were on the streets. Went with my mom to service her Corolla at a Toyota dealership. And started trolling around with the people looking the Yaris Sedan saying that this isn't truly a Toyota it was a Mazda. The manager was clearly pissed off.
