found this on the Supra forum where everyone is getting their panties in a bunch that its not a "pure Toyota", like how dare Toyota spoil it by adding some Porsche to the mix...
Personally I think its great... especially if its priced like historically between the Supra and Celica, in today's terms it'd be between the Supra and 86... concept looks pretty concepty, but "production-izing" the car, I think it has the potential to look really good... sprinkle some Porsche sauce in there (most likely the engine) and it could be a great car...
It's just about impossible that a joint venture with Porsche will create a product that has a lower price than the Supra. Considering that the Supra is already competing against the entry-level Cayman, there is no cheaper car to base this MR2 off of, and anything more expensive they make would be in direct competition with the Supra. Porsche would never let Toyota have something based on a 911, so I just don't see any collaboration whatsoever between the two companies.
I'd be totally down for this. Toyota does not make cool cars by themselves anymore. Let's all just accept it. They're owning that fact. But at least they're doing effective collabs with legitimate sports car makers to bring something slightly unique and nostalgic.
It would be fine if the mr2 cost just as much as the Supra. It would be midengine, hopefully convertible with a likely weaker engine aimed at a totally different audience.
well with enough money you can get a tune out of anything... I'm talking about stock or near stock form. overall its not that exciting of a car...
Maybe. It looks really good, if nothing else. Not sure how the LC F is or is going to be. Haven't really heard anything about it. Based on the mess that they made with the RC F, I am not expecting the world. However, this company can make cool cars. This is a conscious decision not to.

they look spectacular, but at the end of the day they're luxury cruisers kinda cars, and they're great cars for that, but not exactly synonymous with driving excitement.
This would be truly awesome. If they could make a mid/rear-engine car with performance anything like a Porsche at a reasonable price point, it'd be awesome!!! We will see if it actually happens.
