help my return to roadracing (NE)
help my return to roadracing (NE)
Couldn't find a good spot to post this topic, so the Loft it is.
So after an 8 year break from road racing, I am going to give it another go in 2020. I started getting into HPDE around 2002 and it ended in 2011 when my son was born.
Back then I used to run with the Porsche Club (despite never owning a Porsche), and it was $300 for two days of class time and track time.
Now I am not sure what venue to latch onto. I was looking at SCDA but that is $374 for a SINGLE DAY.
I saw TrackNight which is super cheap ($160) for three 20min track sessions in one evening, but I read reports of it being a bit of the wild west with NO instructors and NO class time so there are novices that bump THEMSELVES to Intermediate and can make things dangerous.
Is $374 for ONE TRACK DAY with actual structure and instructors reasonable these days?
Are the TrackNight events a bit of a hot mess?
Can you recommend some other group for me to try?
I am targeting Palmer Motorsports in Mass.

track nights is basically one step back on the driver group. their novice is literally for people who its their first time on the track, once you've done one of those you go to intermediate. Their intermediate is basically solo novice. advanced is like most other club's intermediate run groups, but it is pass anywhere with a point by. as far as how it goes, it depends on how many people show up. I've done events where there are like 3-5 people in advanced and its awesome. when its full its typically not all that great cause you get people that know they belong in intermediate but sign up for advanced cause intermediate is full.
is SCDA the only other club in your area? check out motorsportreg.com, they list a ton of clubs...
