Scotty Kilmer reviews an Evolution...

It pains me to see this clown trash an Evo, especially a Lightening Yellow model. It’s one thing to bring up valid points but this guy makes a broad generalities based on not being able to access the OBD system.

Actually I agree with most of what he said. You really need to know these cars well to work on them. Compared to companies like Toyota etc mitsubishi's parts support is abysmal. Being relatively cheap these got into the hands of people that just drove them into the ground and did all kinds of stupid things to them.

What do you guys feel was unfair about what he was saying? The way I looked at this was not a review from someone who knows evos well, but from your average mechanic faced with a problematic evo.

The whole time all I could think was boost leaking like a sieve. TBH I have personally seen way worse, that thing could probably be fixed up relatively easily. He seemed at a loss, which meshes very well with my experience of most mechanics when it comes to evos.

Totally agree It seemed like he wanted his scantool to magically fix it or tell him what was exactly wrong. This isn't a new car with a million sensors that what adds to the enjoyment of it at least for me.

What do you expect from scotty kilmer? This guy has become the laughing stock of the car community ages ago. He knows mechanics, not cars and to top that off he was given a driven to the ground evo 8 to "fix" that he probably got frustrated at because he and the owner of this car was in over his head thinking its just another 2l turbocharged jap car. I mean, who on earth buys an evo 8 and hands it over to scotty kilmer? You can tell from the way he comments that hes just venting about expensive parts, cheap made car, no obd reading (really? lol). This video says more about himself than it does the car. This was pure entertaining

Yep, when he was talking about throwing parts at it to fix the problems I knew he didn't know wtf he was doing. Which again, matches up with most mechanics when it comes to these cars.

Showing a picture of a boost gauge, Scotty says, "It doesn't have that capability." Somebody send Scotty a piece of rubber hose and a cheap gauge to throw on the windshield. Maybe include instructions on how to connect it.

I think the fact that our cars didn't come with a decent map sensor kind of goes to his point about no data. Some markets got it but not ours. I agree though it would be trivially easy to just plumb up a boost gauge. I don't think he really wanted to work on the car, or it was just beyond his ability, and this video was his rant about it.
