You try to smuggle stuff into the country, you're taking a risk. Clearly these folks didn't follow the process or their **** wouldn't have been seized. As far as do the laws make sense, that I don't know the history or context to have an opinion on.

Yeah they tried to skip over the 25 year rule by bringing them in as parts cars and re-registering them as kit cars once assembled. Big no-no.
If you want someone to blame for this lack of freedom, point the finger at US automakers and car dealers that lobbied the US Congress to protect their industry.

some people want things both ways, lmao.. when it's the laws they support they are pro-law and order. when they're not, it's a freedom infringement.
