Too bad too. I know there's probably not a lot of love here for domestics, but these were American icons...man, those dual ram 'birds were mean-as-hell looking.

I still have a special feeling for my little old 78 type LT w/factory t-tops. God I miss doing 120 on my way to LBI (Long Beach Island, NJ)

I loved them as an enthusiast... but, I hate that they became Me2 cars... "I have a Camaro..." "Hey, Me Too!"

Good ridance... for now.

You can still do 120 in your Lancer, Sully...it'll just take a week to get there.

I guess the Mustang won the pony car war .... It started the genre and it will finish it.

Great performers though my bros runs 13.4s with intake and exhaust.

TVR?!?! I have yet to see one of those on the road... bout the only times I have seen them is on Swordfish (speed 6) and on Gran Turismo...

I think a more likely competitor is the Charger.

charger would be a muscle car...
i think by definition a pony car is simply a light weight (or fairly light, not super 7 light) car w/ good power

muslce car is just everything big...big size, big power......i think

I know, but its not the same. No t-tops, no throaty exhaust, no Holley spreadbore 4 barrel carb (gotta love when the secondaries open up on a spreadbore), no doing smokey donuts in parking lots or the middle of the road, you get the picture.
maybe i could go buy another project car.........

Well, then, I'd think that the recent Mustangs were classified as muscle cars, no? And by that definition for "pony car", I'd really only say that the 80s model 5.0s really qualified... small, light, and powerful... those and the very early models. When they were competing heavily with the Cambird in it's original state, they got pretty damn big, and the new ones aren't exactly lightweights either.

I was just on the phone with my dad, and as zany as this sounds, he was basically saying that the origin of the term "pony" car was basically that the car was named or featured a car in it's logo. Hell, I dunno, but, he is a pretty big enthusiast, and was around and cognascent for the rise of the Mustang, so, I guess I'll take his word, although by definition a Pinto could qualify.

Really, I was more stating that the Charger would probably be better competition in the US market. Not too positive on definitions myself.

Want to hear somthing funny? The new GTO thats being brought over from the land down under classifies as a sport compact. Going by size and the fact that its imported.

The last Camaro off the assembly line was auctioned off yesterday, at the Kruse International auction, with proceeds going to R.O.C.K., a Chevy charitable foundation (Reaching Out to Communities and Kids?).

A gentleman from Michigan won the arrest-me-Red t-top Z28, with bidding begining at $40,000 and ending at $71,500.
