Yeah, I like Silvia as well, however, the SR20DET powered S13 and S14 are popping out everywhere in the US (not unique anymore) and it's getting much more expensive nowadays for parts

Unfortunately, that always seems to happen. Now that Initial D, drifting, RWD and generally JDM culture is becoming more recognized and the "cool" thing now, everyone wants to jump on the bandwagon and get their own Silvias with SR's.

As well, it's becoming more common to see S15 headlight conversions on other cars, which is also sad. Those headlights were put on a car to stand out, and just like Altezzas, people have chosen to stick it on their Integra or Civic.

Furthermore, Skyline conversions are popping up everywhere too, lessening the popularity of the GT-R.

Hopefully the Fast and the Furious 2 gets the ricers back to the Honda crowd and away from the JDM culture, and more importantly, enthusiasts like us.

ugh, you hit a tender spot!

Hello, I'm a Nissan owner that will be an Evo owner in the following years!

Unfortunatly I think that FnF2 will not get the honda crowd away. I say this because the main car will be a Skyline GTR.

I think we will be seeing more and more Hondas out there trying to look like Nissans, and that sucks, it's like seeing Evo kits on Hondas, yuck!

As far as the SR20DET, they are a dime a dozen, and cheap to import, but how many do you really see running around? Hell nothing like a 2.0 4 cylinder that can put out 300whp on stock internals, right!

Yeah, don't! Drop in a SR20DET, they are pretty much a direct fit! 300whp pretty easy!

S15 spec R! One of my favorite cars of all time! 250 ps straight from the Facto!

13 and 14 K's are OK too, but I just love the 15, expecially the front end.

13's and 14's (Kings and Queens) are a dime a dozen in JDM land.

Question 240SXs Versus Silvias

Yo yo yo, it's always bugged me in the back of my mind, what's the difference between the 240SXs and the Silvias? Like, they look the same, except for some differences, n' stuff... Are the Silvias the better versions of the 240s or something? Or am I just retarded and they're the same thing?

silvias were the japanese version, 240sx's are the us version, obviously one is rhd other is left, but there might be some other diffrences cause us cars are usually detuned because of the crappy gas in the us

the 240sx is the dumbed down version of the silvia. There are actually many difference between the two. The biggest of corse being the 240 got a non-performance engine (KE24 I think) and the silvia sports the SR20DET. The SR20DET is nissan's 2.0L turbo which is simular to the RB26DETT. Personally I like the SR20DET better.

ratboy128: what are you talking about "crappy gas in the us". Our gas is the same or better then Japanize gas. They just use different octain ratings then we use. If you use the same ratings you get the same numbers.

actually they have higher octane gas for sale at the pump in japan, thats why some stuff like gdi isn't sold in the us

and how can you say sr20det is similar to the rb26dett, one is a inline 4 single turbo and the other is an inline six twin turbo, but the 240sx is the same car as the silvia, thats why a lot of people buy them and do sr20det engine swaps, since the stock 240 engine is sohc and non-turbo, but same chassis and body

240 engine would be a KA18.

KA18 can be performance engine if you have the money. Any engine can run quite well with the right mods and a pretty deep pocket. CA18 would be even more of a stock performance engine. Comes stock in the S13 before '91 excluding rps13 a.k.a 180sx. Plenty of ways to boost those engines on up in HP ratings.
