used dsm
That would have been a good choice. You can't go wrong with AWD and turbo... Not to mention they're quick little things with loads of aftermarket options.

i second, third, and fourth this. find yourself a nice, straight s13 shell, and with 12 grand you could EASILY build yourself a very nice looking sil80... great looks and great weight distribution. i looked into the rb20, rb25, sr20, and ca18 swaps, and the only thing that makes sense here in the states is the sr20 or going turbo on your stock ka24. the ca and rb swaps can be had for fairly cheap, but sourcing parts in the states for these engines will prove to be tiresome and may cost you more in the long run. basically with 12 grand you could have your car with engine, wide fenders, a nice set of 9" wide (17s or 18s) rims and tires, a paint job, nice aero kit, a good intercooler, a paint job, and maybe enough left over for some engine mods. i'm including boltons in the original price. this was the route that i was heading in before i found out that i could get almost $20,000 for my eclipse and am saving money now for a trade when the new evos come out

HECK no. It was a hand me down from my sister. I'm hoping someone will steal it or a cop to crash into me so I can get a new car for 12g. I would probably get a gen 5 prelude.

Looking for a good car

get a 04 lancer ES our dealership sells this cars for $11,000 everyday
5 speed is the best and then you also get a 10year 100,000 mile warrenty

These guys are telling to to get a eclipse gsx or 3000 gt vr-4 but you will never be able to find one in a good condition, and if you do i doubt it will be for sale

put your money to good use buy a new car

Buying a new car is a horrible use of money. Especially an economy car where you're going to lose 40% of the car's value the first year. Why not get a 2-3 year old car that's much nicer than that Lancer, not pay the out-the-door depreciation, and have money left over?

There is a big difference buying new and used, true the depreciation factor is large in the first year, but there is an overwealming satisfaction knowing your are the first and only owner of that car. also knowing if you take care of the car it will last a life time. Sometimes used cars can be other peoples problems, and when you purchase that car they can and will become your problem. I'm not saying all used cars are bad but I've seen a several that would make a mechanic a millionare. Plus with a new car at a discounted price you have a great warrenty.

But if you do decide to buy a Preowned car try to buy a lease return, those are usually the ones that have been well takin care of

hmmmm

You could get a Foxbody, 302 crate motor, upgraded transmission, and plenty of money for labor, suspension, wheels, tires, etc.

You could get a Honda/Acura and have plenty of money for an engine and everything else.

You could buy a nice used Supercharged Miata.

You could get a used DSM and put whatever you wanted on it.

There's a lot of options if you plan on tinkering with it. If you want something with a warranty you could look into Focus SVTs, Mazdaspeed Proteges, Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec Vs, or a Volkswagen VR6 or 1.8t.
