I'm a 16 year old and I'm looking for a car around 12,000. I'm paying for 6,000 and my parents are willing to loan me another 6,000. I love the evo, but of course I cant afford it. I'm perferably looking for a japense car thats a manual. I've looked into used preludes and such but still dont know. Whats your guys advice?

 

Any more specific likes/dislikes? FWD/RWD/AWD, 2 doors or 4, etc?

If you want an Evo, you should definitely look into used DSMs. Should be able to get a turbo/AWD Eclipse with that budget.

 

I'd buy a nice used Civic or Integra for about $5k-$7k, buy a B16 crate engine with mods, and still have a few grand left over to spend on dates with the honeys

Being 16 ruled.....when I was that age my first car costed $50 bucks.

 

I would look for something used. The only new car you can buy with 12 grand is a Pontiac Sunfire.

Definately don't buy new. The extra insurance is not worth it, particularly since you'll probably hit something or otherwise damage the exterior.

 

My vote is for a kouki S14 240sx.

 

Oops... my previous post should say "don't buy new". A new $12,000 car isn't much to write home about.

 

integra gsr for you, or put the 6grand down on a new car and finance, you could get a pretty good car
