Plus the RX-8 is newer and better looking and a bit easier to live with on a daily basis.
Not to be a ***** or anything, but does anyone else find it funny that the one guy who thinks the RX-8 handles better and looks better than the RX7, owns a SRT4

i agree with the guy who quoted the SCCA rule book. RX7 is at the top of the class, RX8 is well below.

dont take this personal l0j68, just seemed kinda funny to me. For the money, an srt4 is tight little car.

The US market RX-7 had 255 HP (under-rated?), but more importantly push 217 lb-ft of torque. The 8 has 238 HP (supposedly), but a relatively meager 159 lb-ft of torque. The difference in torque (not to mention the ease of getting 350-400 HP out of the RX-7) is what makes it a winner.

check out my profile.....I also have a Mazdaspeed Protege so I'm a big fan of handling.....that's actually one of the reasons the SRT-4 is gonna be history soon cuz I don't wanna spend all the $$$ on an FWD car to make it handle

but as far as the RX-8 handling being better than the RX-7, that's not really my opinion since I haven't driven an RX-8....I'm going based on the reviews I've seen and read (particularly "Top Gear" in the UK) where they say the RX-8 is one of the best handling cars that they've ever tested.

I couldn't remember the exact HP rating, I knew it was in the 250's.

What generation RX7? Are your talking turbo or non turbo? The first generation were great handling, but I beleive 0 to 60 was something like 8 seconds.

I think the context of this thread was a 3g turbo RX7.

I like both, i personally would've swayed towards the RX8 yet the FD3s is simply stunning its like a sexy woman waiting to tantalize me with a dark secret to poison me to death, as for the RX8 its more of a... "Are you looking at me? cause im gonna kick your ****!" yet the power is still lacking.... =-(, but the suspension geometry is simply amazing, i could drive off the lot with nothing but great comments on ride quality and i wouldn't be finnicky enough to touch the suspension as i would with most cars available, since its just that good for a road car.

But for you power mongers out there, the FD is the place to go, as you cant go wrong with it, but keep in mind there are some issues to be had with those sexy beast, the cooling sucks as well as the gaskets, as its prone to overheat and blow, yet the price to pay for a very highly maintained sports car....

i truly LOVE both cars. why? because of the engine of course..i fell in love with that engine, once i get out of college and after i own my evo, ill have some car with a rotary in it

and im not gonna pick which one's better, cause it really isn't a comparison. "better" is so vague, this could fit into many categories..but i think too many people have said the same thing i have so far so ill stop with that explanation

anyone read any reviews on the forced induction RX8's? Blitz, i believe, has a supercharger kit for the rx8, but i cant remember the gains from it. There's other company's out there making FI kits for the car, maybe after that it'll be a more fair comparison

No comparison in any way, shape, or form. I would kill to have an rx-7 twin turbo!!! imo its the sickest car to hit the streets.
