BMW only makes N/A engines (I don't think they'll ever switch to making FI) but you can always buy the the Audi RS6 if you have the money

42V systems are taking a long time to happen. The OEM providers don't want to double their complexity, and so the manufacturers are forced to run dual voltage in the car, which creates even more problems. It's going to take someone at GM or Ford to get some ***** and say "This car is going to be 42 volts, if you can't supply us you lose all our business".

Failure rate isn't really an issue. The biggest problem is noise and ECU complexity.

Wasn't that only the race engines? Weren't the qualifying engines more around 1,500HP, but only could survive long enough to qualify?

The losing of business is exactly it. Until the big auto electronics manufacturers have complete suites of 42V components the next generation is on hold.

Yeah. A lot of the OE stereo companies are fighting 42V, even though they stand to gain immensely from it. I guess after 30 odd years of 12V systems being the only choice, they have a lot invested to throw away and start over on 42V.

They aren't being THAT nice to us yet. So far, they are just giving you the connector to plug your own iPod into the car. I wouldn't doubt if a factory provided iPod becomes an option down the road. But, for now, its just a plug in the glovebox.

I wonder how much they'd overcharge for the BMW-logoed iPod.
