eclipse exhaust swap?
eclipse exhaust swap?
I have a 97 Eclipse RS , and I can get the stock exhaust (cat-back) from a 95 GS-T for $25.
Three questions-
1) will it bolt up?
2) will it flow better than the RS?
3) will it sound different?
thanks!

1. Maybe
2. A little maybe
3. Prob not
If you weren't getting it so cheap, I'd say just to skip it. But for $25, might as well. I'm not sure about the mounting. I want to say it won't bolt right up, but I'm not positive, so don't hold me to that. Flow, prob a little better, but the stock pipe is only like a little over 2", so its not like its that big. And sound, well, it will sound stock. Hope that helps.

The correct answers are as follows...
Yes, it will bolt right up....Using a GST system on a Non-Turbo is a procedure completed by many many people.
Yes, it flows better than the Non-Turbo Exhaust
Yes, it is quite a bit louder than the standard exhaust, the GST exhaust is designed with a turbo in mind which essentially acts as a muffler by itself, thus, the GST exhaust will be quite a bit louder on your non-turbo than stock.

I guess you can blame me for being under my AWD too much for that one. I've never looked under a RS/GS, so I wasn't positive, thats why I didn't say for sure. I knew that, obviously, the GSX and GST have different exhaust because of the driveshaft. So, I figured there was a chance that even the FWD GST would have some differences in exhaust than the FWD RS/GS. I was sure the turbo exhaust was bigger, but how much different it will sound, who knows. The stock turbo exhaust isn't exactly loud, so I doubt it will sound much different with a 420A pushing it. Who knows. Hell, for $25, why not find out.
