Let me start off by saying that I have an Evo 8(greddy type s, hks cat back, tanabe dp, hallman mbc, kn filter, aem ems(speed density)...test pipe/fuel pump/injen intake/and cams(maybe on thecams) this week...anyway. My cousin has a s2000(comptech intake) and his roommate has the vette(Stock). These are the cars I will be comapring...well the vette and the evo anyway, I just told you about the s2k for ****s and giggles

Suspension
The difference in center of gravity in these two makes this comparison very hard, but here we go. I LOVE the evo..it sits a little high, but corner to corner I cannot break the tires loose on dry pavement(conditions permitting) the *** of the vette...loose as a goose, if you want it to be. The vette really holds the road amazingly and absssorbs bumps like a freakin caddy! Now the evo....you feel everything, from speed bumps to road kill! The noise from the tires, the suspension bottoming out...you name it you feel it. That is complete feedback from a little car! CONCLUSION:the vette is more civilized if you want it to be...a wolf in sheeps clothing, the evo...well....lets just say, no sheep here!

Acceleration
vette....holy ****!!!! talk about torque from beginning to end..145mph in 4th gear, i loved it!!!! evo...now you have it...now you don't....boat loads of torque from 3000rpm to 7000rpm. CONCLUSION: This is tough, The vette is just a freakin beast...any way you shake it when accelerating, but I love the onset of boost from a turbo!!!! And that freakin Intake/BOV/WHooSH como....I dunno, I like them both...I guess I will have to test drive the vette again....again....again.....

Fit and Finish:
The vette...lovely....nice lines...nice cabin...nice amenities. The evo is no nonense...if you don't need it it ain't in the car....that includes sound proofing.
CONCLUSION: Vette is like a well dressed business women(short skirt...you know what I mean ), the evo is like an undressed sorority chick!!!

FINAL ANAYLSIS:
Vette is what you get when you want a really nice sports car with amenities that will still eat any mustang on the street!!

Evo is what you get if you want a car that you can really make your own. The car can be as good as you are willing to make it....no nonense fun!!!

a VETTE also cost 20K more. My dad has one and although he has MAD torque he loves the way my torque comes on. I can eat a Z06 till 120, but after that its a different ballgame. But, who cares after 120 really anyways. Track it and the Vette has bad oversteer where the Evo tends o drive itself or easy o correct all problems. Even a person with little or no driving skill can show out in a Evo, but in a vette will probably end up wrapped around a pole.

 

Here's a free mod to make your Evo's interior feel 10x's better... go sit in a Vette for 10 minutes... then get into your Evo, and feel better about your plastics...

Okay, I have both cars (and a civic for the wife). My Z06 is a 2002. My Evo has a cold air intake and full turbo back exaust. As it sits I could never keep up with the Vette. The Vette does 0-60 in 4.3 seconds on street tires. There are many Evo's that can do this but have many more mods (UTEC / Xede, cams, cam gears, custom tune, clutch, etc., etc.). NOW FOR THE RECORD: I prefer to drive the Evo and in the year that I've had the Evo I've only driven the Z06 eight times

 

EVO's and Z06's are pretty close here in 6000ft altitude. I'm seeing alot of Z06's doing 13.5's down the 1/4 stock. N/A's aren't *** fast up here.

 

I have driven a 03 Zo6 with cold air intake ,ECU upgrade and it is a fun car to drive but I prefer the EVO . 1-The evo has a mutch better steering feel and response
2-braking and handling numbers are very close to the same
3-4 door 5 pasanger vs 2 pasanger
4-20 grand less
it looses to the ZO6 on top end unless you get a bigger turbo then hold on. WE ran from 0-140mph. I took off on him and he cought me at 100mph and passed me but that was when i had the stock intake and cat in the car now I have a bigger turbo and we will runn next week.

 

I've owned them both. The Z06 has a lot more power, but it ought to for the extra $20K. The very high gearing makes it a calm, high gas mileage highway car. The EVO is more fun and just as fast on backwoods roads. There is a special feel you get in the EVO during fast driving that makes you think you're Superman, nothing is impossible. In constrast the Z06 steering is sort of dead feeling.

 

'member a couple of years ago when GM was practically GIVING away their Z06's? they were offering 0% financing and huge discounts. i was slightly tempted but a vette is just not a very practical daily driver - and they're practically useless in bad weather.

 

I had a 2000 Vette before the Evo...and I drove it in all kinds of weather, even snowstorms...you just gotta know how to drive, that's all...the Vette is a totally different animal...the LS1 is an endless well of torque...it is very easy to put the Vette sideways if you want to...but I really love the rush of the Evo's turbo and the AWD launch is hard to beat...plus the steering and handling of the Evo is simply telepathic...you point, it goes...no BS...with a couple thousand $$$ in mods, my Evo is making the same power as a stock C5, and I have AWD and 4 doors...I still love Corvettes, though...I will buy another one someday soon...

yeah you could probably scrape through winter in a vette, but you're probably gonna get stuck and it's just not gonna be very practical. i made it through a CO winter with an S2k...barely.

Ran my buddies ZO6 last night and walked him on top end with my new turbo!!! He wants run again after he puts on a cam and header. I will keep you posted.
