That post was painful to read.
It just occured to me if I want to make the Evo "liveable" I just need to change out my tires.

hmm... almost every other test i've seen of the RS has had its 0-60 at under 5 seconds and 1/4 in high 12's lo-mid 13's. but then again, those same drivers went to work on the GTI, so it's somewhat of an even comparo.

Mr. Dutch Mandel of autoweek is what I would consider the epitome of pretentious euro-status car snobbery. I need to start making a list of the hypocritical BS that he spouts off on Tv and in the Mag. Unfortunately, this just seems to be something thats wrong with American car journalism in general, not just autoweek. If R&T didn't have their' Speed mag, I would give them the crown of suck.

I haven't read the article but the decision doesn't surprise me at all coming from them. One thing though, why the hell did they choose the most stripped down version of the Evo to compare with such a plush car!? Especially if they give luxury such a high mark with the sport compacts. I think they had it beaten from the start in their minds and choosing the version with no ABS and no sound deadening just made it easier to rub in. I'm really not that angry about it though, somehow not hearing it come directly from Mr Mandel's voice on tv makes it alot easier to take in. It's crazy, all you have to do is hear him talk and you can imagine him in LA accessorizing with small animals.

We all know that on a cooler day the differences in performance between the cars would have been more apparent and difficult to brush aside. Even with the test results being what they were, it is difficult to understand why someone evaluating a high performance compact would ever say in essence, to heck with speed and handling the seats and ride are too hard on my tush. I had to laugh at one comment about the Evo's "boyish racer look." Perhaps that writer needs to go to Europe or to look at a 1974 BMW 3.0 CSL.

why the hell were they comparing a car like the RS? thats stupid. They wrote the RS only sold 169 cars to date...uh, i am pretty sure Subishi knew it wasnt going to sell like hot cakes. Everyone always complains about the evo. First of all, the seats ARE Comfy, i can ride in them all day. Maybe cause im only 5'6 and 148 lbs, i dont know. Yea, the suspension can be unforgiven in bumpy areas, but, that wasnt why i bought the car. I knew what i was getting.

These numbers are rediculous... I dont know what kind of crappy drivers they had but the Evo does way better than this
0-60 mph: 5.81 sec
0-100 km/h (62.1 mph): 6.30 sec
0-quarter-mile: 14.50 sec @ 91.6 mph
Their drivers must have not known how to shift or step on the gas because even Evo's with full weight + stereo systems are running way better times stock than this and with trap speeds just over 100 mph
very poor article as far as I'm concerned there is no competition between the R32 and Evo. The R32 gets its *** kicked (way more than they made it out to) in every catagory with the exception of ride comfort (due to the softer suspension)

I think the test was in California with 91 Octane. This would explain the crappy numbers and trap speed.

no way the r32 is even close to an evo. i cant believe they are even comparing the 2. only if the 32 came with a supercharger it would be in the same ranks with an evo. the 32 weights like 4300 pounds and has consiberly less horsepower and torque. not sure what these guys were smoking when then wrote that article.

in any straight stock race - no way will an r32 beat an evo. the 32 is heavier than **** and way less horsepower / torque than an evo

I'd take my EVO any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

And with my TEIN Flex with EDFC, on the soft setting, it rides very very nice.

Hell, even with the stock suspension it rode nice. Maybe I'm just used to my 10 second Talon

IS THIS TRUE??

Shifting at 6000 rpm instead of 7000 did not decrease our quarter-mile speed and time, suggesting the engine uses everything by 6000 revs, and you might as well upshift.
