Figure out what went wrong first. Too many shops want to put in brand new short blocks in favor of making the old one work. I got away with a little machine shop labor having cylinders honed as opposed to paying a lot more for a new block.

Get the engine built. Talk to brian at sage and have him get the parts to have it built and you'll be fine.

Im gonna agree with Gary. Start getting that engine built and you should be good. but whatever you do dont skimp on the parts do it right the first time and make it how you want it. I know it might cost a little more but its worth it.

+1 on having sage build the motor, Evos break it sux..its expensive...but on the bright side i just see it as an opportunity to upgrade heh. Borrow a baby or something then youll get like 4 grand back on tax returns. If i coulda just had 2 kids this year i could easily cleared gettin a bigger turbo and plumbing and some new paint probably

My biggest issue will be money. All I'm concerned about is getting it fixed to drive. Whether it be stock parts or cheap ebay aftermarket. Whatever it takes

dont go cheap aftermarket ebay. you are just asking for trouble again and you will be stuck doing the job again later. do it the right way.

Does anyone even offer OEM shortblocks? I know I've seen longblocks around for huge $$$ though.

Honestly, you're going to have to live without your Evo for awhile if it was something major. Cheap parts or not, $700 isn't going to fix the car. But like I said, figure out what went wrong first.

The only fast import is actually running with the domestics since it's a Talon IIRC.

its worth it just to rebuild it..

I know with me being in the military i can get a loan out anyday over at navy federal.

Your goal is not to rush into it yet to build it reliable or it will cost double in the long run. Quick fix equals still having to do it right later.

So save the time and just do it right.

Sage does great work.

They have tech whenever I go on Friday nights, I don't see why this would be any different even if they did a track rental. Plus on the first page of that thread, it says in the rules they'll need to check your fuel or you'll be dq'd.

Why don't you want to get your car tech'd?
