I keep blowing my LICP. I have the front bumper off in my garage. Replacing all the worm clamps with t-bolt clamps.

^At least that is an easy fix. I dont know why this thing would throw a CEL. Hey maybe it is just some bad gas or something. I really dont think Chris wouldve even touched anything related to the P0300 dealer flash anyway so I dont know what is up with it. I guess all I can do is go to Autozone after work and pull the code and then take it from there. This sucks though.....

And Carlisle is tomorrow through Sunday so I will be out of town and unable to deal with this now till Monday.

I am sure Chris simply modified your existing map as that makes the most sense instead of starting fresh from a new rom file....

That's what I would think, but think of this. One, Al made kind of a big deal about me warning him of my dealer flash when I had my last tune, and two, it is kind of a coincidence that the car runs perfect for over a year after my original P0300 issue, ran fine after the cam install, and then the day after the tune it misfired. I felt it misfire while accelerating in 2nd gear on Sunday morning but it didnt throw a CEL. Today it misfired again and did throw a CEL. Then when I pulled the codes I saw there were two of them in there. I am not saying Chris did erase some important part of my ECU related to this issue, all I am saying is it seems like a strange coincidence, why did Al care so much if tuners only adjust fuel and timing, and most importantly I just want my car back to running perfect w/o any P0300 BS. I am really bummed right now...

That is an odd issue to have. What kind of clutch is it?

The reason why al wanted to know this is because he will regularly just replace whatever map you have in there with one of his. This would eliminate your dealer reflash.

I checked your files to confirm that the only thing changed were the timing, fuel and other insignificant maps unrelated to your problem.

There is always the possiblity that you do have an actual misfire as well. The car could be throwing the code in relation to an actual problem. When is the last time you changed your plugs?

thanks
chris

I upgraded to T-bolt clamps!! Took off the front bumper and removed all the stock worm clamps. They are garbage.

Must of not tightend the TB t-bolt clamp enough because it blew today. Glad I got smart and put a ratchet set in my trunk.

Which plugs do you have in the car and what do you have them gapped at? Also how old are the wires? Both of these have given me missfire issues in the past.

The plugs are the BPR7ES gapped at 25/1000 I believe. I actually didnt put those ones in so I will have to check. Good point on the wires though. I still have the stockers with 27k miles on them. What do you think?

Well the 27k on stock wires is nothing but since you said someone else installed the plugs they may have pulled on the wires instead of the boots causing some damage.
Do you have anyone around that has an evo? If so try their wires, it only takes a few minutes to swap and remember to pull from the rubber boot, never the wire itself. Also keep in mind that if you were running uber rich for any reason before the tune you may have fouled out the plugs, not hard to do with coppers.

Well I am going to wait and see if I will throw the code again since my wires and plugs should still be good. The whole thing I find odd here is I used to throw the code every 10 days or so, I get the dealer flash and all is well for a year, then one day (4 days after a tune) I get the problem back again. Why would it go away for a year and then come back now unless it was non-ECU related? My plan is to do this. It comes back, buy a reader/scanner and new plugs. Install plugs and delete code. It comes back again, new wires and delete the code. It comes back again, well then either live with it or start searching other avenues.

Hmmm... I know Chris uses the latest base map from Mitsu which incorporates their most comprehensive P0300, aka random misfire, code fix. My car was getting this out of the blue after never having the issue from March of '03 to October of '06. I never saw it again after the new fix. Were the plugs or wires handled before the tune? Also do you know the actual code that is coming up? I can't remember if you had stated earlier or not. Here's a great deal on the creader I've been using for a long time now.

I went to Autozone and pulled the code. P0300 just like ol' times. Chris actually didnt upload a base map because I had a previous Dynoflash tune that included the latest P0300 code and gave me zero problems/CELs. He just tweaked that for my cams. So that also answers that question as far as the plugs and wires. Yes, I had to remove/handle those when I installed my cams. But I drove the car under 15psi for 8 days and no problems. Maybe it won't come back. All I can do now is wait and then trouble shoot if need be. Thanks for the link to the Creader though!
