Agile Auto in Fallston is a authorized Cobb ProTuner
http://agileauto.com

They are expecting their shipment of AP's sometime next week. They will be tuning Evo AP's as soon as Cobb releases the ProTuner software for Evo's.

Cobb is a waste of money when you can use the open ECU and do the same thing and save money while your at it.

OPEN ECU FTW till you move on to standalone.

what all can you control on a acess port? they are pretty expensive.

why not just save a little longer and go full standalone....

Most of the time standalone's are very good at one thing, racing. What standalones are not very good at is daily driving because they are usually very simple compared to OEM ECUs. That means cold/hot weather, barometric changes, cold starts, part throttle at all conditions, and WOT in the best or worst conditions. What is very good at making reliable power while retaining drivability, the stock ECU.

That being said, the stock ECU programming is what is modified by the AccessPort. The AP is capable of anything the open source tools can do and more given the real time map switching amongst other custom additions to the ECU logic. The device is easy to use, you do not need to be a programmer to understand the different programs. Plus you get support from COBB if you have questions or something is to go wrong. Have more questions, go here:
http://www.cobbforums.com/forums/

No need to carry your laptop around everywhere you go to switch maps or make parameter changes. With the AP you can flash a map or put it into real time. Real time maps do not decrement your flash count of the ECU's memory. Real time map changes are unlimited without any wear or tear on the ECU. Park at the airport for xx days/weeks, throw on a real time anti-theft map to make the vehicle inoperable from inside the ECU's logic until you change the map again. Don't want the valet to feel what your 400hp car feels like, toss on a real time valet map limiting throttle input, the RPM range, and turbo control is shut off. Say you are running a race gas map, but you have to fill up with 91 craptain. Change to a 91 octane map using the AP attached to your dash (or in your glove box) being used to display live engine parameters.

Other features include reading and clearing DTCs. Actual disabling of individual DTCs. Misfire codes, cat inefficiency, etc. No need to run a mechanical O2 fix anymore.

The AccessTuner-Street will be out soon if you want to tune your own car. Once you have a map(s) created using StreetTuner, load it on you AP to be used anytime.

If tuning is not your thing, COBB has a network of professional tuners across the US who are there to custom tune your ECU using the AccessTuner-Pro.

As new updates and features are available for the AP, it is updateable over the internet.

The point is the AP is more than a device used to flash the ECU.

Not everyone can use open ECU properly or easily.

Having developed maps made to work in conditions all throughout the country can be a big benefit to people. without easy access to a tuner.

There are plenty of reasons to get an Accessport compared to open ECU in my opinion.

One I can think of (when available) would be ease of tuning. no more will you have to flash the ECU after every setting change to see the effects. Realtime tuning will allow you to make changes instantly giving you much quicker results during a custom tune.

Nothing like saving hours on the dyno to remove any cost advantage.

The Accessport is another good solution in the competative market for Engine managment systems. Competition breeds better product.

Of course, they dont have the OpenEcu aftermarket like we do. Why spend a ton of time and money on a dyno getting retuned for mods when all you need is a laptop, wideband and tactrix cable to road tune for free.

AP and other flashes like Ecutek do have their place, that being they are for people that cant tune themselves or just dont feel like spending the time to learn and do it.

Subarus have the same OpenEcu support, you can tune anything and everything. It's the Subaru community that has not widely embraced it as much as the Evo crowd.

Accessport will always be a simple alternative for someone, plug-n-play and go. We'll offer full support and service to anyone with it.
