I am so sorry that you're moving to VA. Everything about that state sucks. Everyone blames it on the fact that it's a commonwealth, but that's no excuse for it's gayness. Kentucky (where I am from) is also a commonwealth and there are no retarded car laws. Keep plates from some other state than VA. Whatever you do, do not switch to VA plates.
Some homosexual laws that VA has:
- No radar detectors. VA and DC are the only "states" that their use (and possession) is illegal.
- No aftermarket exhaust.
- Nothing can be affixed to your front windshield except for their stupid inspection stickers. This means that you can't have a strip of window tint on the top of the windshield. You can't have gauges suction-cupped to your windshield, you can't have anything there. No windshield banners, decals, nothing. If you're military, they 'll actually give you a ticket for putting your DOD decals in the bottom corner of the windshield (like every other military installation inside the US does). Instead, you have to put them directly behind the rear view mirror. Their reasoning: they will impair your view of the road if you put them anywhere else.
- SUV's can have super dark window tint, all other cars can't. Yes, this is actually a law.
- You must have a front license plate.
I've actually had a cop try to give me a ticket for the stock rear wing and dark tint back when the Evo was new in the US. I first argued that it was stock, and then when that didn't seem to work, I reminded him that I had KY plates on the car, not VA. My tint was also done in accordance with KY's laws, and I had paperwork to back it up. He said that he could still give me a ticket because I was driving on a VA road, which implies consent to all VA laws. I really think he was bluffing, though. He ended up not giving me a ticket.
I can't begin to express how much I really hate that communist hell-hole.

Virginia sucks for ANY tuner car.... and the EVO looks the look... so far I have been lucky here, but when I drove my RED Civic, I got pulled once a month...
I have tint, no front plate, Greddy TI exhaust w/silencer. I know its only a matter of time i'm afraid. Plus I doubt they will cut me any slack once they pull my record and see all the illegal equipment tickets... but NO moving violations...lol They also harrass me about my lifted Truck (F-250)
Where exactly are you heading? I frequent Richmond/Hampton Roads/NOVA all the time.

another bit of interesting news, VA just increased the penalties for speeding- $1000 for 7mph over the limit- don't even think about speeding

Yeah I think that Florida is the s*%$ for tuner cars, no state inspections, and pretty much nothing to worry about. My brother in law just moved back here from there cause he got stationed here. and he has florida plates, so he could prob do what ever he wants to it. yeah my last speeding ticket was $330 dollars for 11 over. it sucked but what was I gonna do.
