Moving To VA
Moving To VA
So i am getting transfered from Hawaii to Virginia. I was wondering what some of the laws are there that i might have to encounter. Like Exhaust, Tint, 4 point harness, suspension. any other ones that you might think i need to know. appreciate the help.
No, in VA you have absolutely nothing to worry about, they are very cool about exhausts and tint, especially in the city of Fairfax. Just ask anybody from this area, the cops are usually very understanding.
Then take all tint and exhaust off your car. You are most likely heading to the Hampton Roads area so I can't commment about the cops there. Cops in NOVA will pull you in a second for #1 Tint #2 Exhaust #3 No front plate #4 All of the above on an Evo.

Northern VA cops don't play! But I think most NOVA cops also tend to not know what the hell they are lookin at when they see an Evo. I'd go so far as to say you should remove the spoiler if you've got an exhaust or any aftermarket stuff done. Simply because there are so many riced out cars here that with the big spoiler, you are really giving them an excuse to notice you, and then your tint, or exhaust, or no front plate then..."is that car lowered" and "ok pop that hood"...etc. Where I live they will give you a ticket for every single aftermarket part they can identify. I drive mine to work every day and it sucks being noticed by every cop on the way. With the wing, tint, and exhaust, I figure there's a 60% chance I get pulled over if any cop ever gets directly behind me at any point.

Are you planning to keep your Hawaii plates or no? I got pulled this past saturday in Virginia Beach for my exhaust being "defective"(it's a Greddy Ti-C, and not more than a decibel or 2 above stock at WOT) b/c it was too loud. Tint is a big thing in Hampton Roads, anything darker than 35% will get you a ticket with the quickness. The majority of cops in this area don't know **** about cars and the laws that pertain to them. They will write you a ticket but they can't tell you what part of the law you broke. So my advice to you is, keep your out of state plates on the vehicle if you can. Otherwise, I feel for you.
I would just keep hawaii plates on it for as long as you can, if that is what you have on the car. I haven't heard too many people around where I work with out of state tags get pulled for that stuff. and I am in the navy so I know many people with out of state tags. ^ yeah me too I have been pulled twice for my exhaust down here. I have not been pulled for the tint yet, and I know my front tint is out of regs.
