Maintaining your Evo
Maintaining your Evo
Ok, so here we are at this meet - the weather's nice, convertible tops are down, hoods are open, chicks are in skirts... Then it starts raining. Since I am from Cali, I am thinking, WTF? Everyone tells me that's the norm here. I can deal with that, but how do you keep your cars from looking like garbage?? Back in Cali, every Friday the Evo got washed, once a month it got waxed, too. Should I just wash/wax once a month? Every other week? Hide the Evo and drive a POS?? Please advise since I love my car and don't want it to be neglected.
It rains here in VA...it snows in the winter...they salt and sand the roads, too...deal with it!
Wash it when it gets dirty...if you use a GOOD wax or polish (like Zaino) you should only have to wax or polish every few months.

i wash once a week, wax every couple of months. its hard to wash it that often in the winter, b/c your pipes are turned off and everyones going to the pblic onces... but the salt that will stick on your car can eat through the paint and metal if you leave it on too long. my suggestion is to go to a public one really late at night.

dude! Wipe the powder off your ***! huhu You aren't in CA any more! :P
It rains here all the time. And the reality of life is that you can't always have a clean car to drive around.
This week for instance, it's supposed to rain today, tomorrow, and Wed morning. Then it's to be sunny through the weekend. So I'll be out washing my car when I get back from work on Wed! It should stay clean till sunday, unless it rains at night, or the morning dew traps some dirt.
It's worse in the winter. Thats when you can only wash your car once a month....or when the temps are high enough that the hose isn't frozen to the ground, AND the water won't freeze upon contact with your Evo's shell.
winter sucks!

My tint % is 20 all around - I know they don't like that, but no cops have said anything... so far. If I get hit for it, I will play the "I didn't know, I'm from Cali" thing until I get VA plates.
Chris,
Are you going to change your screen name to Chris in NV?
You are famous around here in the
community. When I go to the dealership in HB---they're like "you should see this Blue Evo that's all mod'd up-- but he moved back east".
Good luck out there--it's been damn hot out here.
Have you taken your car to the strip yet?
