That may have been part of it. The thing is, everyone assumes that Evo drivers are a bunch of hoodlum street racers. Some of them are, but a lot of them are not. The decent ones just kind of get wrapped up with a bow and thrown into the stereotypical pool. It gets kinda old but it comes with the territory. It’s possible that these guys needlessly jumped on the defensive and decided to insult rather than help.

For what it’s worth, take comfort in the fact that what goes around comes around, and that eventually it will catch up to them.

I too remember reading about this when it happened. Apparently the Evo was trying to get in front of the BMW to make it to an offramp and the BMW was blocking him so the Evo gunned it and couldnt slow down in time and crashed. Was that the same one? I am sorry for your loss but I highly doubt that BMW comes forward anytime soon. I have seen countless people try and block me, run me, ricer flyby, you name it and I always try to have restraint, slow down to duck behind them if I need to make an exit etc... it is very unfortunate that he died in his accident but we have to remember that driving wrecklessly does have its consequences. If the Evo would have just slowed down, he wouldnt have wrecked just backed up traffic and then allowed to get behind someone else. Sometimes speed isnt always the answer. This is a valuable, and was a very costly, lesson to folks on all the Evo boards.

I didnt see your post on the dcevoclub forum but I wouldnt think that they would needlessly insult someone who lost a dear friend. Wishing them ill will though and bad karma isnt ok either.

Please folks, drive safe out there, be respectful of one another.

Darla,
Many people here have been thru this and played things out many times over. I'm not sure who you are nor what you expect from everyone here in this area. I had and have known David for quite a while. He never mentioned you, but if you are as close as you say, you would understand that David was no angel when it came to his car. It was a very tragic accident. It caught alot of us off guard as I had spoken to him just hours before his venture to a meet.
David, loved his car and LOVED to RACE. It's hard for many to grasp this. Just because he was a great person, does not mean that he is without a vice. Sometimes, he would not use good judgment when it came to street racing just like many in this and other community's. He used to take too many risks with the power he had in his hands. Although I feel that the BMW or whatever it was he was racing should have stopped, DAVID was just as guilty because of his habits. Driving well over 100 MPH on the shoulder and weaving in and out of DC traffic is stupid. Plain stupid. It pains me to say that, but its the truth.
Don't think that people in the DC area do not want to find out who this "other person" is. Its just that maybe they want to move on without tarnishing Davids memory any more.... Maybe you should follow suit...
My 2 cents.

If these are indeed the facts of the incident, it doesn't sound like a street race at all by conventional means (if there is such a thing). Simply put, two people were unwilling to yield, resulting in a very tragic outcome, hence the term “accident.”

My comment regarding "what goes around..." was not a prophecy or a curse, but, speaking from personal experience, it is a truth for those who do harm to others out of deliberation. And sometimes this truth is the only form of "comfort" one has when a loved one is wrongfully taken.

Nick, great points.

Over 100mph weaving in and out of traffic and sometimes on the shoulder is well, very dangerous...

This should be a reminder to folks that take way too many chances on the road to slow down a bit.

I agree with you guys. what david was doing was dangerous and I know he was no angel. But again he was my friend too. and All I am trying to find out is what really happened. it could have very well been davids fault. but maybe its the fact that the other car did not stop and has not come forward just pisses me off. Maybe I expect everyone to have a conscience like me and the world is not like that anymore. ya know.

I think this is the reason why you were not greeted with open arms on the local forum. You keep going on and on with no end in sight. It has been published many times, the police have given everyone a synopsis of what transpired. You seem to be the only one that can't let go, nor understand the facts of the case.
He was street racing (with many different vehicles), at STUPID levels. Not dangerous levels, but at the level of stupidity. Dangerous is just passing on the shoulder, he went well beyond that point.
He tried to take an offramp and was traveling WAY to fast. Slid into the wet grass and hit a tree in excess of 100 mph.
Thats it, THE END. Now please let it go.

I think the only thing that is going to get you to let go is a video. How long has it been now? And you still are wanting to hear a different story. I don't think after all this time someone with amnesia is all of a sudden going to come out of nowhere with a story you want to hear.

Well Can I just say this please. I was told by someone through email that they thought they had found the BMW that david was racing . But they won't give that information to anyone. Is that right? Please don't take any of this wrong.
