info on MD

looks like I'm coming up on a PCS to BWI to work the Airport. Any tips on where to live in that area, places to stay away from, places to go, tuners for the evo... thanks in advance fellas.

Welcome to the area, we're here for you if you need any service etc! Downtown baltimore is not the best place to live, I can tell you that! Carroll county is a safe place to live but not the cheapest.

I live in carroll county and it's going to be a 45 min commute to bwi with hardly any traffic on 695. Your best bet is glen burnie but there are areas there can be a little sketchy

cool. Thanks for the info...I'm not in the area yet as it will be a few months before I move. I also heard Hawthorne Heights isn't too bad. How far is Glen Burnie from the airport?

Glen Dirty is very close to the airport, borders it as BWI has its own zip code. There are actually some great downtown areas that are very close to the major thoroughfares and minutes from BWI. I would check into Federal Hill, lots of rentals and housing cost has come down a good bit with the market falling out.
If I get work in B-more, I am there.

If you want cheap and not interested in the city and all the stuff to do there, look into Glen Dirty and Linthicum. Def - sketchy, but so will be parts of the city and parts of B-more's burbs. After all, that's why we call it "Charm City".

ok thanks. I'd like to live in the boonies as I'm a outdoorsman and wannabe redneck lol. Anything good in the boonies (close to BWI) of course..

I'm sure B-more and these places you guys are describing aren't as bad as Fayetnam near Fort Bragg...it's a sh*thole out here.

If you want nice and safe Id stay 20 miles north of the city. Harford County is expensive but one of the better places to live in MD in my opinion.

so everyone here from baltimore? i just got a temporary change of station to fort meade like 25 mins from baltimore. trying to meet some other evo owners down here and find either some people who know what they are doing and can help me or a good shop that can do an engine swap with a fairly quick turn around time since my daily is stuck in ny. im having a turn key engine built and should have it by the end of this month sometime....either way meeting some other owners would be pretty dope too

Yea, pretty much close to Baltimore. I'm about 25mins from Baltimore. Check out the Ellicott City meet thread. We meet up every Friday around 9:30 and grab something to eat and hang out.

hey bud u want the boonies come out to cecil county with me, its the northern part of the county, and its all redneck out here. Much lower cost of living in cecil compared to harford, and much less traffic. And 95 runs straight thru the county so baltimore is only a 40min drive
