I have heard through the grapevine and now confirmed as true, that Capitol raceway in croften MD is now closed untill further notice. this came as a Shock to me as they just had a great Import Face Off event last weekend. the closure is due to a dispute between land owners and track managment.

Capitol Raceway to re-open under new management

The Agent hears from a very reliable source that Capital Raceway in Crofton, Maryland, has already changed hands and the new owner is flying in veteran dragstrip site manager Bubba Corzine to spend a week getting the track and track infrastructure ready for racing. DRO will get more information regarding the new opening ASAP.

I was just there for IFO. The track needs some MAJOR help to say the least.

 

maybe we'll get lucky and see it converted to a road course ...

 

road course would be nice to have, alternative to summit point. capital has so much potential as far as location goes compared to MIR but they just can't seem to get right IMO. i'm hoping with new mgmnt they will be able to turn it around.

 

I'm sure it will reopen fairly quickly. It is nice since that is where we go with customers to make a few test passes but when we rent a track we rent out MIR. I hope it comes back it is 15 minutes from my house!

No idea. My boss and Jason owner of MIR are very good friends and went to school together growing up so I am sure he gets some ungodly hookup.

 

So the raceway is now open again. Was going to head down there tonight with a few buddies.
