Buying an EVO need local advice

sup fellas
btw i did a few searches and cant find this info so any help is appreciated
I recently decided to sell my 03 WRX and buy an evo. Here's my problem.... when i bought my wrx i went to stohlman in tysons and richie made me a great deal on it and i had an awesome experience when i bought it. so i went to the stohlman mitsu dealership and the jackass there was totally useless with a "i dont really feel like talking to u attitude" .... then quoted me 33k +ttl for the sun and fun package and then he wouldnt let me test drive one. needless to say im never going there again. Where is the best dealership to goto in the dc area. I'll drive if neccesary to pa or whatever. im trying to buy an 04 evo and i know the 05's are coming out in like a month so im trying to get a good deal on one. 33k is ridiculous where can i go guys for a good deal

Here's something you already knew:

We've been having issues with Stohlman forever. Almost everyone in the DCEvoClub has some sort of story about them.

I bought my '03 new 1 year ago at Carmax in Dulles, near Sterling, and it was quick, easy, painless and you can finance through them or whoever you want within 3 days. I'm not sure what kind of stock they have there now, but last time I was there (1 month) they had at least 2 in the showroom. As far as a test drive, basically anyone at the DCEvoClub meets will let you drive their Evo.

I'm in the same boat as you are, I live in Anne Arundel county MD and would like to know who are the good/bad dealers in the area. I might get a new RS, but I would rather find a used 2003 Evo between 23 and 25 grand without extensive mods/abuse/etc. Problem is, I hear so many conflicting stories about reliability, I am afraid if I get a low price on a used Evo it is only a good price because the car has been abused and/or was a lemon right from the factory. I want to get a stock Evo and have it modded the way I want, and know it wasnt in the hands of some spoiled 16 year old who did 100,000 miles worth of hard launches in 5k miles before having mommy and daddy buy him something new. Anyone know what to look for in a used Evo?

I know its a hike but I got my ralliart at Jerry's mitsubishi north of Baltimore. The salesman Chris that I had was excellent and even after I had signed the papers and took the car home, he called me the next week and got me a better finance offer. Also sent me a thank you card. I've been extrememly pleased with the Jerry's staff so far.

I am in White Marsh, not fat at all from Jerry's. Maybe I will give them a look.

I had the same very painless trip to Carmax.

BTW shop online and negotiate a price over the phone

They have better prices online and will negotiate over the phone. That saved me $2500 off sticker. I got my evo for close to nothing.

That's true! It was my most painless car purchase ever, and the price was right.

CarMax of Dulles has a new 03 and a used 03 the last time I checked. They were asking for around $27K for either one.

I did look at the Dulles Carmax and I got excited when I saw a brand new 03 for 27k.... then I saw it was Lightning Yellow - the only color Evo I really dislike.
I am just trying to find a dealer who wants my business and will be civil when I bring my car in with some minor mods. No dealer should be expected to rebuild an abused car under warranty, but the stories about voided warranties for little nit picky stuff makes me want to take my business to the place with the best service and not necessarily the best prices. You get what you pay for.

well, i know jerrys will void if u bring it in with mods, but if u take them off, they wont void anything. they wont void for an intake or a catback, but after that u need to be careful...

Hmm, good to know. However they told me that I'd be safe with RMR products and that they wouldn't void my warranty. The RMR stuff just came out for the Ralliart. Time to start saving.
