Need service in Milwaukee

When I veer or turn left I get a rubbing noise coming from what I think is the front left of the car.

I bought my car at Griffen in the falls because the sales guy at Renner was a total donkey. (Don't mean to be harsh, but he was. They also claimed that my trade in was of lesser value because my clutch was broken (which it obviously wasn't.)) So my question to you guys is, if I bring it in are you guys going to again try to screw me because I have springs on the car? Or are you guys mod friendly and work with me? I don't expect anyone to pay for things I broke, but at the same time I don't want you to automatically blame me because I put springs in.

Can I trust that I'll have a warranty afterward, or should I just take it to Griffen?

(Please don't turn this into a dealership war)

Hey bolsen, good to see there are some other Milwaukee guys around. Sorry about the problem though. I got my RS through Don Jacobs and got the impression that they're trying very hard to be the area's top Evo shop. The sales guy was awesome. I too went to Renner and laughed my way out because of the sales guy's attitude. Give Don Jacobs a call and see what they'll do for you. Otherwise I'd give O'Reilly's a call. They're on 3rd and Cherry. They're slightly more expensive than other shops but they are top of the line. Do alot of business with higher end customers and thier corresponding vehicles. Let me know how it goes, we should get together sometime too.

O'Reilly's
DO NOT take your car there..

1) Owner is a

2) If the car can be covered under warranty due to a warrantable condition, what the heck is Mike at O'Reilly's going to do for you? (Besides charge you the labor to diagnose something he can't fix...which he will do, believe you me)

3) refer to number one.

I think you might be referring to Fireball...he's a great guy and runs the midwest evo club www.evoclub.us

talk to him...I need to bring my car up there as well for tranny work that's been going on since day one. I won't take my car back to where I bought it from because of the sales guy and service guys as well. From what I hear Renner is mod friendly

Yup, my 3rd gear grind I would like to go on the record. It's much better since I put in some syncromesh, but I'd still like it to be on the record.

I just PMed fireball, I'm interested in his response.

Wow, I've heard nothing but good things about Mike. They've always been very generous and helpful to me. Offered to have me down for my winter tire mount and balance to take a tour of the shop. Went down there because they had a Porsche and BMW meeting where they invited the tirerack guys up for a lecture. Very informative and cool. You might know something that I don't though.

I'm really sorry that some of you have had a bad experience with some of the sales people here, but if it was up to me, I would have made it right in the beginning.

As far as our service department... the rule applies: be nice to them and they'll take care of you. If they ask if you have mods on your car, be honest. They'll work with you as long as you are upfront and cool about it. Jason is one of the best service managers when it comes to things like that.

I have seen almost every problem that an Evolution owner can have, and can offer quite a bit of advice as to what is going on. Shifting problems, I know a lot of tricks to help with. You can even try my car, to see if it feels any better.

We are really the kind of place that if you broke it, we'll tell you. If what you did had no bearing on it breaking, then we'll warranty it. Nothing will blanket void your car.

Stop in and ask to talk to me. I'll make sure you get introduced to Jason and that he knows what's going on. Name is Bryan.

p.s. I've seen your car, bolsen, around here. You stopped in for parts one day.

Me too until after I brought my M3 in for a pre-Buy inspection.. (yeah, I got the tour of upstairs and all that..even got a t-shirt )

Upon inspection of the car he said it would be around $2,000.
BUT....
Ended up sinking over $5,000 dollars into that car on his advice.. post inspection..

Bottom line. I will never speak of that place in a positive light ever again. His estimate was thousands of dollars off and he never admitted any errors on his part and was smug and non-apologetic about the whole thing. A real smug ***.

But try him yourself. Maybe I was one of his "customers form hell"..

And let me tell you, I am glad to tell somone the whole story of that deal if your interested..He could have taken me for a lot more money in parts costs if I had let him. (right, Mike?? )

But like I said, why take your car to a non factory authorized shop while the car is under warranty?? They can't perform warranty repairs??!! Just take it to Jason at Renner..

Do like Fireball says..I would take my car there (Renner) for service, but Porcaro has handled me very well in Racine...and warranted stuff four times over..

I absolutely agree that if the warranty is in effect an owner should use it. I was just speaking in general. I've had good experiences with Mike, but then again I didn't have the trouble you did. Maybe you know him better than I do, it's entirely possible. Out of curiosity what was wrong with your M3 that required $5K in work before purchase? Do you think it would've been more affordable at a BMW dealership? Do you think the work would've been as high quality at another shop?

As for my experiences with Renner's service department, they are top notch. Every time I need a part I contact Renner, Don Jacobs, and Pocaro simultaneously. On more than 3 occasions Renner has been the first to respond and always has the part in stock. I bought an antenna mounting base (mine was destroyed), took it home, dissassembled my entire headliner, mounted the new base, and reassembled everything before the next dealership contacted me. Unfortunately the sales department didn't display that kind of effort. I walked in, took a look at the EVO RS and explained how serious I was about purchasing if they were willing to wheel and deal. No dice they wouldn't budge from MSRP. Three days later I had mine from Don Jacobs. I don't doubt they sold the white RS but I'm glad I didn't pay MSRP for mine.

Ok, stupid noise went away.

I don't know if it's worth bringing in as obviously it's hard to fix something that's not there. If it happens again, I'll bring er down I suppose. I'll make sure to stop in and say hello as well.

Thanks for the info guys!
