I'm probably going to do the school...my friend might possibly be an instructor for that one.

The Evolution school is AWESOME for autocross. I recommend, if you've not autocrossed before, to get to a small handful of events before the class - but don't miss it on any account!

bump - damn I'm antsy for some organized events!

If anyone knows of any close to the Stl area (road-racing, rally, SCCA, etc), make sure to post them up here!

I watched a porshe track day last year. I think it was only like $150 for the day which include 3-4 sessions on the road course out at gateway with an instructor. I'm all about doing one of these if you hear anything about it. There were some serious cars out there including two f40's.

I think I remember someone mentioning they watched it, not sure if it was you or not. I'd be down for it.
What does gateway's road course look like anyways? Never seen it. Just curious like what our top speeds would be on it.

It runs on the front strait of the oval track so I'm sure you could get up to 120-130. After that it turns in to the infield where there are some shallow s-turns and a couple of 180degree turns. Then it hits the main oval track at the end of the back straitaway where you accelerate around the banked turn onto the front straitaway again. Not the biggest or baddest, but around here, it's the best we got. At the porsche day there were everything from the F40's, to track only cars, to jetta's, and of course a whole gambit of porsches. There were two sti's but no evos.

Dude, I love it already. I'm in whenever. 120mph is 5th gear, that's about all I was looking for on this type of track. I wonder what the restrictions are for an event like that. Wonder if you need some type of schooling, or certification or something to get on the track. Suppose every event would be different, and just have to wait and see.

Looks like I gotta start my track fund up man! Keep us all posted here.

They break it up into 5 groups of increasing ability with the top class being only instructors. An instructor rides with you for guidance. I think that makes it a driving school so your insurance will cover it. I think the only thing you need is the sign up fee and a helmet.
