Guys with tints
MAKE SURE that you don't have an idiot shop that does it that covers the rear-window brake light... I spent 45 minutes scraping that tint off because the shop that did mine (before I bought the car, they did it for the dealer) tinted over the brake light. Other than that, everyone has made it clear: the laws vary.
hmmm...i haven't had a cop pull me over for no front plate, ive had mine off since i put on my new bumper (about 4 months ago)...
neither for the tints...
i got a ticket a few months ago for going 15mph over the limit,...the cop sees my tints, didn't give me a ticket,...and i guess he forgot to check my plates as well..
I went to the courthouse (full of cops) 4 times in a week, none have talked to me about the tints and the front plates...
i think cops in your areas are just that bored to pull you over for something as little as that...

Luke, I'm not from your area, but have had a few run ins with popo about my tints. I've got 5% all the way around including sunroof. The legal limit in IN is 35% on fronts and 15% on rears, except on SUVs and Minivans. So far I have not recieved a ticket, just warnings to have it removed. The really bad part it my car is Silver, so it makes the tint look extra dark. The lighter the color of the car, the darker the tint looks. So far I have not been stopped out of state, knock on wood. But with the new wing, I am sure to get more attention from the police....

this may be late info but
Illinois Law states No Tint on driver or passenger front windows, any grade or color of tint can be used on the rear doors and back window, the catch here is NON-Reflective.(mirror, Silver, etc). 6 inches on the front window.
Harrasement on the front windows depends on how noticeable you are and how you drive.

limo tint (8%I think) all around only got one ticket because the cop was an a-hole. I've gotten pulled over a couple of times and the cops didnt say anything about the tint. Also if your going to get them done go to Z tech in naperville, that were i got my done. thats what they specialize in, they did areally good quality job, a little expensive but comes with a lifetime warantee.
From what Ive heard if you go to an eye doctor and get a note saying your eyes are sensitive to the sun the cops cant ticket you. Im not exactly positive if this will work everywhere but I guess it couldnt hurt..
I've been pulled over for just my tint..and IT WAS AT NIGHT with no lights around. I had 15% all around. just make sure you know the law because takin that **** off has to suck. alot of money to throw away
