Hey everyone,

I am organizing an open track day at Gingerman Raceway in Southhaven, MI on Tuesday May 24th. The event is going to consist of six, 20minute sessions (2 hours total). Each session will have 10 cars on the track maximum at a time. Passing will only be allowed on the straighaways for everyone's safety. The cost will be between $75-$140 depending on the number of people. At this point we need 20 people minimum to attend (40 maximum). There will be a wide variety of cars and skill levels attending. Hmm - could be fun, I haven't driven Gingerman yet..

been to Gingerman twice, and although it's a lot of fun, can't do a Tuesday

 

Aww come on Mike. You can leave Verona at 2 in the morning and be to the track by 7:00am. Then leave at 6:00pm and get back home by 11:00pm. Whats so hard about that? I'm thinking about going.

 

It's getting more and more tempting... :P

 

Sounds like a blast, but I'll be recovering from Beaverun the Saturday prior. I've been to Gingerman so many times, I'm totally geeked to try out a new track.

I don't want to dampen your efforts at all, but have you tried a G'man 'Test & Tune' session? It's in the evenings (now even on Fridays too!), so most people can get away with just taking a half day off work. It costs only $65, and you can usually get in as much track time as you want.. about the same as the full track days, but compressed into 3 hours or so. I regularly see 110-115 track miles... that's take TWO tanks of fuel.

I have also gone to 'Test & Tune'. The problem with only 3 hours total at the track is you don't have much time to let your car rest. It is pretty hard on most street cars to do that many runs in such a short time. With the full day, it is much more relaxed, plus you will get between 2 hours and 2.5 hours versus 1.5 hours of total track time with plenty of rests in between.

Also, for people who have never been on a track before, the full day events are a lot less intimidating.
