Well, I didn't have time to balance tires. Also one of the wheels was bent and it had the KDW on it (it was at motomotion, by the way stay away from that shop), so on a car I had 3 kdw's, not balanced and one dunlop maxx not balanced either. Just ran out of time. My next time will be a blast for sure. Plan:
When my Advans die I will probably get the KDW's in a 245 if they'll fit. Don't want to pay $250 per for the Advans.
Dave
That happened in my first session, I thought I was going to **** my pants and I thought I was done tracking. I've got cool instructor who is a hard core racer, he was pushing me and my car to the limit. For the first session I though I was going to crash and siruously thought tracking is not for me (especially wih the brak situation) going 90 mph and no brakes is not fun
Everyone said I shouldn't be braking so hard. Well I let the car cool down and then took it for a second session brakes were ok, so I finished the day, went home and put motul in, after that everything was alright. Learned a lot of new stuff and pretty much the limits of the evo (after Derek took me for a spin in group 3, by the way he beat his time with me - from 1:46 to 1:42)
After that instructor (Colin Barta) told me that with my ****ty tires and brakes I learned the limits of my car. Once the new tires and brakes go in I can do better. he signed me off after a first run on Sun, bu still ran with me whole sunday. Even thought we were not supposed to run for time my first session's best lap was 2:14, and the best lap which was right after driving with Derek was 1:55 (all of the lap were under 2:00) With good tires and brakes, and more practice I should do much better.
P.S Bobby you're in quite a surprise if you're taking your evo for group one. My first thought were that my evo has got way too much power for me. With your evo - OMG!
After the brakes thing was taken care of I felt much more comfortable with the track and a car - BTW my tires are toast (the all season ones, I didn't take volks and kdw's)
I got hooked for sure. I will be there in June and planning on going to Beaver run and Nelson Ledges before that
BTW guys I want beer, it was a long and hard weekend, let's meet up!

i'm really glad u r hooked up with the track stuff, i thought u did very good for ur 1st time out, 1:55.0
it took me couple events to break 2:00, altho my car didn't have power at all, still 1:55 for the 1st time is good
u gotta get more evos from this board out on the track to run with u, ppl all say they can learn so much faster from driving together and learning from each others
this is from my own experience, everytime when i'm behind "djh" (Dave), i can do so much better and improve faster
i'm pretty happy with how i did, i put down a 1:42.05 with Alex in my car
costed me a clutch to show you a fast lap me...........haha jk
still 2 seconds behind greg tho(992gnt), thanks for giving me a ride, u definately got some skills
yeah, i lost all sunday afternoon track times, clutch decided to let me down
so i totally know how Talon feel......(by the way, i didn't know AAA would tow u when they find out u r at the track event)

Plan:
Better pads (probably Hawk)
SS brake line (BFG
)
Motul 600 (which have already)
Thinking of putting slicks on my
wheels (good idea?)
Better rotors maybe
Rear sway (might not be this month)
Riding in Derek's car was insane (acidandroid) Going 140 to 90 in a like a sec, wow
It was so much fun - I highly recommend. Class time is pretty boring, but usefull for sure (at least the first one) the ones after the races were just to clear out who and why spun out or cut someone off. We all will be running together, you, me bobby, and maybe we can drag talon down to group 2 also

but i'm not sure about running slicks tho
correct me if i'm wrong, djh or 922gnt
it's more difficult to drive slick tires on its limit, if u go beyond the limit of the tire
they would suddenly give up and result in ugly spin
but with street or R compound tires, even if u go beyond the limit, the traction would slowly decrease, so it alerts u before u loose it, thus, safer for not so experienced driver?
i would say try out ur other set of tires first, and see how u like them and go from there
alrite, enough talk, gonna post up pics in few min
next HPDE at midohio is gonna be july 13~15
but there's gonna be a open track day at beaverun in May, which is a great track too
also very organized, just like the NASA, all corner workers r out there, with tow trucks and ambulences standing by
and u have instructors and class time too!!
