Machine shop wise? The basics. Clean, hone, etc. I'll be assembling it all.

New to the EVO world, picked up an 08 EVO X MR. Just trying to get it back to where it should be. Added the Facebook group as well. Surprised this is kind of a slow regional section. I am still on ClubRSX (from when I had mine) and those guys are always active.

Lets see where to begin. I sort of knew what I was getting into

Already replaced front drivers side control arm
Have at least 1 blown shock - Found a guy in Florida with stock ones with 10K on them and 1K on the Tein springs.
Did the trans diff flush not sure when it was done last.
Needs new DP
Have a torn boot on the passenger axle so looking for used ones to have friend rebuild both fronts.
Need to go through and take care of the interior rattles / Alreday did full exterior detail. Clay/Cleaner/Polish and Wax
Need to buff the headlights
Clean off the clear / yellow model paint off the fogs.
Need to also re coat / paint the calipers the finish is mostly gone.

I knew it was a project looking forward to the transformation

Hey,

Anyone have a good recommendation for a shop that will do an alignment + corner balance? I've only really trusted IPS in the past to do my alignments, tires, etc. But it looks like they closed shop a week ago (fed trouble)? I came across Auto Assets but there were some unsettling forum reviews I came across elsewhere. I have a hard time trusting janky shops and dealerships to even touch my wheels (had to nearly sue Ricart to get new rims on a botched simple mount/balance job), so I'm rather skiddish. Looking for somewhere reputable.

Thanks!

I was on the fence about Slowmotion I knew some people that had some bad experiences in the past, although to be honest that can be said about anyplace.

I have been trying them out and they have been good so far. They also build their own race cars so if they don't do it they know where to recommend.

I have heard good things recently about Slowmotion. I believe they have a new owner and most of the problems were with the old one. I have never had any work done there so I can't verify any of that.

Blackbyrd, they don't do alignments there, but they might know someone who does at least like Chris said.

Yeah they replaced the drivers control arm and they had a place for alignment close by. They use it for their cars so I am guessing it is a trusted shop.

I was going to have them install my ETS downpipe but could not get me in until after 12/1 due to their EVO guy being on vacation. Looks like my dude JB will be doing it. He has always been my go to Honda guy. He is a mad scientist when it comes to cars.

Also ordered the smoked side markers and the LED DRL bulbs hoping to get them on this weekend or at least when it warms up a little. Also going to track down some of the rattles.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just talked to SlowMotion, they said they did do alignments and corner balancing. Not sure if they're outsourcing it or not, he said "he has the scales there".
I had already made an appointment with Turn In Concepts down in Cinci for tomorrow. Buddy of mine used them for his STI before. It's a bit of a drive but I like road trips anyways.

SM quote was 420$, TiC was 325$, AA was 450$ (all estimated depending how long it takes). The guy at AA did not sound like he knew what he or I was talking about and did not seem familiar with the Evo/suspension, just sounded rather douchey (maybe its because they're a porsche shop? lol), did not like/trust that at all though. I'll probably check out SM next time.

Thanks again!
