If you want to pay more for the continentals, I'd recommend going with the Pirelli Pzero all seasons for about the same price but by the reviews look like they are much better.
I think I'm going to give the Kumho's a shot.

I have the Pirelli M&S as well and love them.

As said before, with the weather we have here I'd rather have a performance-oriented all-season since a lot of the winter the roads are just cold and dry. Why suffer through for 5 or 6 months during the winters with all the lost performance on a dedicated winter tire?

My sister (Golf 1.8T) has the Continentals and loves them too, I think they have better snow traction than the Pirelli.

Both have good treadwear too.

I agree, the Pirelli M&S appear to be very good. Are they $150/set better than the Kumho ASX? According to the TireRack tests, the Kumho faired very well against the Pirelli.

Conti's!! I have them and love them. 45,000 street miles + 2 wet track days + 1/2 dry track day + 1 wet autocross + a bunch of ice races + a few trips to the drag strip and they are about done.

Dry traction is so-so, wet traction is great, snow traction is great for an all season tire.

Oh, I'm replacing my wornout set with a new set.

Falken 512s are great! Well worth the money. I'd buy them again.

I have the ContiExtremes and used them last winter. GREAT all season performance tire. They have tremendous grip in the wet stuff. The dry is ok, but more than satisfactory for winter use where you don't constantly have snow on the ground. I use my Advans for the summer and the Contis for winter.

These worked perfectly fine during the winter for me as well. I didn't like driving them in the spring/summer, and I put back my Advans for one more summer (useless info hahaha).

Probibly the Kumho ASX because they don't make the Continentals in my tire size.

I used to use Sumitomo HTR + for the winter, but I would probably go with the Contis in the future.
