Help my figure this out. Please.

Very strange boosting issue. When I start the car for about the first 10 min or so of driving my max boost is only 16psi that it... After about 10 min and the car is i'd say very warmed up, I am now able to boost to 20psi during normal hard acceleration and 24psi!!! if I roll on in 4th and 5th on the highway.

I don't understand why. Could it maybe be the hoses going to the MBC?
I route right from the turbo outlet to the MBC and right back to the actuator.
I know that the hoses are tight and clamped, but they are pretty thin walled hoses and when they get warm they are pretty soft and may expand under pressure??? Or maybe the diaphram on my BOV does not seal very well until it heats up. I also don't understand why I get the 24psi during highway roll-on?

I am using a (No Name) regulator style MBC

Please give me some suggestions...

Thanks ~

Nice police lights on your avatar! Are all the hoses stock? if you got the colored ones, they are too soft and collapse. did you take out the "pill" in the line (brass restrictor pill under the airbox)? where did you splice in the "T"? need more info to try to help you out!

Yeah they are the aftermarket color hoses. They are pretty soft. I was figuring that that was the problem. I accidently threw away my stock controller hoses so I am just going to pick up a replacment from the dealer. $28 dollars or so. I don't have my cams in yet anyway. Am I really going to need the MBC when I install my 272s?

Thanks

Easy answer:

You have a 2005 with no ECU programming. They are made to not fully boost while not warmed up. If you get a ECU flash you will not have this issue again, although not fully boosting is to help prevent any problems with the turbo and what not. This is defaulted in all 05's and possibly 04's but not certain with the 04's.

Edit: I noticed your comment with the higher boost in different gears. Again with no programming you will get different boost levels in different gears. This is common. Even with ECU flash you will get a few psi difference in higher gears such as 3rd or 4th. www.dynoflash.com is the best place to go and you'll actually get the most from your mods. When you put intake, fuel pump, cams and what not you will actually lose HP by doing so. Get the flash its worth it.

as 4rcd6 said the 05's have a function in the ecu that wont let you hit full boost till the car is warmed up, as to not mess anything up within the engine, but at the same time you car will boost higher in diffrent gears possibly because of your no name boost controller, even wiht other boost controllers its normal to have higher boost in higher gears, once you get all the supporting mods such as front mount etc. and a reflash you will be able to hold the boost better and more stable. Get a reflash and a real boost controller Hallman, the new forge one is nice too.

It has been a while, will have to think it thru, it is under the airbox, 2 hoses going into an regulator type deal. I better research this FIRST! Dont take it off yet! it is a brass restrictor "pill" in the hose, which youhave to remove. I am not sure if it is done with the MBC, or with the XEDE install. I forget. Did you take out the restrictor pill out of the T in the wastegate?
Actually listen to 4rcd6, as this sounds good, I have an 03, and yours is probably different! Disregard my statements, I dont want to mess up your car!
