Hey guys, I'm not an evo owner yet but I am considering picking one up in the near future. Just wanted to get some input from you guys on good/bad dealerships. Are they mod friendly or are they quick to void warranties if they see anything. I've casually went out to look at evos but haven't had much luck in a test drive. They always pull the credit check line to make sure I'm serious.
BTW I know there are two evos at work in Maple Grove. A black one which was sanded down and resprayed this summer and a white one that shows up every now and then. Are any of these you guys on here?

Welcome smokey. I'm in the same boat as you with the not owning problem so knowing if the dealerships are mod friendly is not my thing. The other guys could help you out with that. I'm just a lurker.
On a side note:
If i'm not mistaken there are only 3 dealers in Minnesota now, (feel free to correct me). I used to stop by Wayzata Mitsu, but have noticed recently that they have closed up shop and the Lexus dealersihp next to them has taken over their lot. They expanded their showroom/service center into some massive behemoth.
Does any one know if Wayzata Mitsu is planning on moving or if they just closed down?
The less dealers we have around here the less competitive they become on pricing, etc. We're gonna have to go out of state soon to get a decent price if any more decide to close shop.

The only mitsu dealer I've actually talked to more than 2 minutes was the one in brooklyn park. They are also closest to me as I live in Blaine. They had a used white RS there this fall but no luck in checking it out, just bs'd in the lot until i gave up and left.
I visited wayzata mitsu once and they had a black evo in the showroom that was sold so it was hands off of that one too.

Don't go to Metro Mit they are gayness. They try to boss you around and tell you crap that they will not honor. Just Oct I was torn between my TB evo in Brooklyn Park and a silver SSL at Metro. I talked with the guys in Brooklyn Park and they said they'll do 27.5 but only offered me 4k for my trade in(00 civic Si with 75k miles) so I told them I would check out Metro and be back later on if I didn't get a good deal. I previously went to Metro to look at the silver evo and the sales guy said he can get it for around 30k and 8k for my car which I thought was a great deal. But when i went there the guy that told me about this deal left work early and I was working with this other guy who was really trying to bully me. He was telling me that they are selling the Evo at MSRP and that they wouldn't go down because they don't have to. I asked him why I should buy an 8 when I can buy the 9 for the same price and he just shut up. So I told him to STFU and give me my keys back because during the negotiation Brooklyn Park Mits called and said they can give me 7k for my car. At that time the sales guy tried to keep me from leaving and wanted to work out a deal with me but I him that I would not deal with him because I felt uncomfortable with his sales technique and left. I got my Evo for 27k - 7k trade in then add ttl. By the way the car had 250 miles on it because they said they took it to an auto show. I haven't modded my car yet so I don't know how friendly they are with Mods but the sales guys are pretty cool and laid back. He actually told me anything from the cat back should be fine. Just don't put in a CAI and expect it to be covered when you suck up water.
There are actually 4 mitsubishi dealership in the Twin cities. Bloomington, Brooklyn Park, Forest Lake and Maplewood. I heard the one in Maplewood is pretty good also so check that out. If you go to Brooklyn Park use my name so that I can get 200 bucks! I'll split 100 with you. Overall I would say Brooklyn Park Mitsubishi was 8 out of 10 because they tried to low ball my trade but in the end it worked out for me.

I was going to go to Metro cause I know a guy in the service dept. He's a service writer there. So i'm hoping i won't have a terrible time with their sales guys.
If things don't work out there i was going to check into those offers that one guy from Cali keeps posting up. I wouldn't mind an MR for $34500 OTD. And then enjoy driving it home.

Wayzata back in the day was pretty mod friendly and donig alot of under the table warranty work on cars that had been modified by Archer Racing back in the 90's.
Look for other dealerships in the metro area, HINT I would stay away from Metro, Kline, and Brooklyn Park.

Smokey,
I recommend Denny Hecker's Forest lake Mitsubishi. It's probably the furthest for you, but that's where I received the best service and price. I purchased my '04 RS for invoice, 25,700. Everyone else wanted $27,300 for it.
Neither Maplewood or Bloomington dealerships would let me test drive it. I went over to the White Bear Subaru and the stuck up, salespeople didn't even greet me.
So give Denny Heckers a try and try to get it for invoice. If they don't budge, offer $500 over invoice. If they don't deal, walk away and they'll negotiate.
Good luck with purchase and enjoy.
