OPEN TRACK DAY - Grattan MI - May 11th
OPEN TRACK DAY - Grattan MI - May 11th
I wanted to invite the EVO Comunity to an Open track day that we are putting on May 11th at Grattan raceway. This is the second year we are putting on this very easy going, low cost event. It will mostly be filled with modified street cars, and just the occasional track car. I'm inviting your club because we didn't have an EVO out last year, and I wanted to change that this year! So if you think it's something your interested in, we'd love to have you!
Anyway, here's the details, and here's the link to the registration website -> http://events.kzoorice.com/ more info is on the site, and a list of the registered cars is up on the site under register.
Date: Thursday May 11th.
Cost: $125 per person
Track is open from 9:00 to 5:00.
Drivers meeting at 8:30 to go over rules and safety items.
Every 15 minutes a new group of cars will go onto the track. There will be 4 groups with ~10 cars in each group.
Passengers are allowed, but they need helmets (of course)
I want to stress that this track day is very flexible, so if someone is in a group that is too fast, or too slow for their comfort, they can switch to another group without an issue. The limit on the track is 15 cars, so we are starting with 10 per group to allow for this flexibility.
Also, there's a group of us camping out at the track outside turn 1 the night before. It should be a good meet and greet, and lead up to a great Track day the following morning!
Thanks,
Daniele

yep, 15 min. I know, I know, 20 is more standard. If when we get there, people would rather do 20 min sessions, we can always change to make everyone happy. We chose 15 to make it easier on some of the beginners with their cars that arn't so track ready. If the advanced guys want to go for 20, it's not a big deal.
I hope you come! We don't have any EVO's yet... (We have 4 STI's thought)
Personally, I've always prefered the EVO over the STI, so i'd like to see one run circles around the subies. Also, one of the guys helping out with the event has a stock STI. I'd like you teach that guy a lesson too.

sounds like a good time, we are doing the blackhawk farms lapping day event the weekend after this one, might try to make it here too. Does anyone know how far this drive is from chicago? Thanks
It's 210 miles from downtown chicago.
BTW, we just got 2 spec racer ford's to sign up. They should be a blast to watch.
There's about 5-6 spots left... It will probably fill up in about a week. I hope you decied to make it out!

I MIGHT be up for this too since Grattan is only 20 minutes from my house. I just picked up my EVO last weekend. I didn't want to do one of those "Here's my EVO" threads, but I can't resist posting a pic.

I've been to Grattan before with my SE-R Spec-V (car in the background), but this would be my first time with the EVO on the track. Anyone know how the stock Brembos hold up under track conditions? Or should I really get better pads, braided lines, etc before tracking the car?
