chicago ppl - how do you do it?

Have been driving through the city more frequently lately as of late, and i've noticed some changes driving w/in the city streets...most importantly, was by chinatown and noticed a bunch of police cameras at every corner it seemed (by stoplights and saw some in the middle of main streets also )...also see an increase police presence on the major e-ways...I know that this doesn't really apply to the outlying suburbs - but man, it's gotta be tough going over 10mph the speed limit in chicago nowadays...

Some of those cameras are to protect the neighborhoods and I think the cameras on the stop lights are sort of like radars. If you go over the speed limit, they will take a photo of your license plate and give you a ticket.

Aren't the cameras at intersections mainly for crime prevention? I didn't think they used them for traffic violations.

The big rectangular boxes are used for crime prevention in neighborhoods with high crime rate but the ones located on top of the stoplights in the middle are used for speeding. They just started this system in Chicago.

Just drive faster and make sure you have one of these and no front plate.

Ok, for you non-chicago living people. The flashing blue cameras on the light poles are located in high crime areas. The boxs at intersections flash when you eat a red light and the dept of revenue sends you a $90.00 ticket. They are NOT for speeding. I should know, I got 2 the last month. (one was hidden behind some trees).

I drive Lake Shore Drive every day and there are places where I can get some good speed. The cops are always in the same spots and they can be seen from a distance since I know where to look. I also look for telltale signs like a bunch of prople braking for no reason. Red light cameras will pretty much be at every intersection soon now that they rake in the dough for Daley. There are signs before photo camera intersections to warn drivers. I just make sure to not run reds at those intersections. Cops are part of big city living and I wouldn't want to live someplace like Naperville or Schaumburg.

just watch out for the 'no turn on red' intersections...heard of a few ppl getting tickets b/c if you do make the turn, the camera's going to take a snapshot b/c it thinks you ran the light...
