If I can make changes to my flash between runs I'm in. It takes 2 minutes and can be done during cool down.

well there about a minute between runs, call P&L and ask if they would allow you to do that.

if i had to guess, id guess that they wouldnt, but who knows.

what do you mean? when the guy is in the car on the dyno, they stay in their with the car running, they dont get out or turn the car off, you are talking about flashing your car inbetween pulls

How to properly dyno your Evo

Stock ecus are designed so that the tune is only set for optimal power when the coolant temps are at normal operating temps, as the coolant goes hotter or colder the tune goes significantly richer for protection. This is a great saftey feature but can really give you screwed up looking dyno sheets if you are not aware of this condition.

First and foremost your car must be properly wrenched and all mechaical systems 100% fully functional (BOOST LEAK TEST - good spark - compression even - etc etc etc) or you are WASTING your time and money

Now with your fully functional Evo strapped to the dyno warm up the car to 175 - 180 degrees coolant temps (you can monitor with any obd II scan tool or pocket logger) - coolant gauge rising up just to normal level

First do a half pull and verify that the boost level on the dyno is the SAME as what you intend to run on the street - generally peak boost 21 gradually tapering down. Dynos load differently than the street and frequently the boost will be 1 - 2 psi lower on the dyno.

Once you have the boost dialed in - let the car cool back down for 2 -3 minutes and then start it up roll it in 2nd and allow the coolant temps to stablize. As the car is sitting cooling on the dyno the dyno fan will chill the coolant in the radiator and when you start it up that cold coolant passes through the engine and lowers the coolant temp signal for a minute or two

When you see the coolant gauge come up its time to do your first dyno pull

At the end of the pull let the car idle for at least a minute and then turn it off for at least 5 minutes to cool off

Then repeat the same proceedure for the next pull

In very warm conditions a water spray on the fmic will help to normalize the fmic temps

Keep in mind dyno fans are not large enough to replicate the air flow your car sees at the track or road at 70 mph

well that is the proper way to dyno, but that does not mean that they are going to do it that way. and even though it gives you plenty time to flash your car, they still may not let you. just call them up.

They will not let you tune your car on the dyno. Tuning prices are much higher than just 3 straight dyno pulls. P&L hopes to get 3 cars on the dyno every hour so there will be a short cool down period

3 cars/ hr ?

20 min each car
Figure 10 min to roll in-strap it-roll out.
10 min for 3 pulls
I could see a 2 min cool down between pulls.

Surely they will allow you to raise boost between pulls if you wanted.

I dont believe raising the boost between runs will be a problem, 2 mins is more than enough for cool down between runs, after all the car is only making 3 pulls.....

$$$$

3 cars per hour at $70 = $210 per hour

and this from there web site.

4 Wheel Drive Cars

Type Description Pricing
Baseline 3 pulls with wideband O2 sensor and color graph (no tuning) $110
Hourly Rental Self-tune, diagnostics and performance changes $120

Can I pay the extra $10 do some self tuning and get a proper dyno run?

you can ask them, but i doubt they will do that for 80 since this is a set aside day for more than one evo, i doubt they will have the extra time to do that. they said they were only planning on being there till around 3, but might stay a little later depending on the situation. they probably wont accept 80 for self tuning because they are charging 80 for people with a wideband. because there are other people that want to dyno too, and p&l doesnt want to be their all day, that will probably decifer IF you can self tune the same day. my guess would be they would charge you 120 for self tuning.
