I recently moved to Cedar Rapids from NC. I've seen a few people around, but no one that looked like a fellow "car guy". Mostly younger kids. What kind of car scene is around here? Are there any legit car clubs or local shops to get plugged into? I just want to find my local gear heads, but would prefer to stay away from the types that tend to get into trouble with the popo. I just want to meet some decent car guys around here.

i dunno what it was like in NC ...but because the evo is a limited car in iowa, expect to be harassed by the cops.

Yea I haven't been bothered by them either. I just keep to the speed limit and it's just another car

 

you guys are hella lucky then ...cuz theyre frickin all over me up here. and i dont speed all that often.

 

Maybe it has less to do with luck and more to do with the comment in your sig...

I drive pretty normal and save the exciting stuff for Autocross. The roads around here are too crappy to drive much faster than the speed limits. It feels like a grenade is going off under the car when you hit some of the bumps around here!

 

you know i hear that argument all the time. the quote is from 'aqua teen hunger force' ...and i seriously do drive conservatively cuz i dont want to be pulled over.
