Help Tuners In Missouri!!! Or Surrounding States

Hey guys looking for a GOOD tuner in missouri or the surrounding states. I would prefer to have dyno tuned. SO someone with an awd dyno obviously. Need someone willing to do this on a weekend hence is my only time off. If you guys have a number for a shop please let me know i would greatly appreciate it the car is going to need a tune in about a month or so after the new setup is on it.

Matt

i hope we do actually. THere was a thread on midwestevos.com a guy named chad does some tuning and ive talked to a couple of times but they guy said intake tbe meth and at 30 psi ran a mid 12 on stock turbo. kinda confuses me cuase i wouldnt be opposed to going up there but who knows if it was the driver or the tune??? he is in kc. Also a guy named jake ive talked to once or twice i think knows his stuf quite well but hes hard to get ahold of i believe. all im looking for is someone to put a hell of a tune on my car since nobody else has been able to do it including the ever infamous AL. and ive had it for over a year and a half and mods started 4k and it now has 24k on it!

Matt,
I'll throw out AMS, but I know that's a massive trip for you. You know what kind of work you'll get there, but I'm sure they're pretty backlogged and weekend work is difficult to schedule.

I know of someone getting a 35r installed here in STL, and I think also tuned locally. I told him to keep me posted, as I was curious. I'll PM him and see where he's at in the process.

Are you talking about Chad at Speed & Sound in Arnold, MO? I'm getting my body kit installed by him. They also have a Mustang Dyno there too. I didn't ask about tuning, but if he has a Mustang Dyno, I'm sure he tunes as well. You can check out the Speed & Sound website or give them a call:

He's done a lot of custom work on a bunch of Evo's.

I've actually mapquested the route to AMS, and pretty much sold myself on making the roadtrip for some minor installs and some serious dyno tweaking. It's just a matter of when I think I'll be close to "done" with the mod bug. But now that I've got 35k on the Evo, another 1000+ miles won't hurt.

And besides, they're one of (if not) the best!

I would highly recommend AMS over Speed & Sound. I spoke with S&S's "tuner" and he was wanting to argue that the Evo uses closed loop boost control and wanted to show me the MAP sensor in the intake manifold that allows Evo's to do this...

BTW, the MAP sensor in the Evo manifold is for EGR monitioring ONLY...it maxes out at 1.5-2 lbs of boost...yeah, I would let this shop tune my car. They may be alright on other cars, stand-alones, whatever but I, personally, am very leery about what they really know about an Evo.

Go to AMS, you will not be sorry. Just schedule way out for a weekend and you'll be fine.

Don't forget axis power racing, they are 18 miles away from downtown STL.

I checked with the guy I mentioned (stockredevo) and he ended up going with AMS. Smart guy...

AMS was right next to O'Hare and not too bad of a drive. Right @ 300 miles from my doorstep, probably about 315miles from the arch fwiw. Not sure how far away the new place is though.

Definitely.

I don't think Ron tunes flashes yet though. If you have a Utec, he's really good with those. I would assume a standalone would be good as well. Great guy!

Guy did a ~12.1 @ 119 mph w/ a 2.1+ 60 I believe. He's still on stock clutch. This was on about 28psi, 92 and meth of course, from the AEM tru boost gauge as it's maxed out on the settings and won't build anymore. I've now re-tuned it for an evo 9 turbo as before it was on an '05 evo 8. No track times yet for this setup. This was all on a street tune as well, dyno pit is being dug as we speak.

Actually we did a Suby dyno day at Axis and Jorge from P&L in Chicago came down to do AP tuning on the subys. A guy I know brought his EVO and Jorge flashed his ECU and went from 274 to 302 basically all stock except for an IC pipe and a manual boost controller. The car ran much better after and no longer ran rich on the top end like stock. I think that is the way to go, just wait for Jorge to come down again and tune on Ron's dyno. He comes down a couple times a year and seems to know his stuff.
