Saint Louis Shop Recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a shop in the Saint Louis area that is good for mechanical work. I need to get some cams put in and am not sure who to use. Thanks.

personal experience...

I have talked to them and they do seem to have a good rep with the STi crowd..., I have picked up from EVOm that the evo has some idiocyncracies that experience with this car can use, ie bleeding the lifters for one. Thanks for the response.

Call and talk to Ron at Axis, he is very trust worthy and will always shoot you straight with no BS.

Go to Axis and let Ron do it or don't have it done in STL. Or just do it yourself

Same here. I've used him a few times for installs; mostly when I had my STi though. He also dyno-tunes of course.

Last I knew Ron was only working on cars part-time. This was mid 07, so things might have changed. Let us know what you find out.

Not sure about Mellon Tuning south of us? I've heard some good feedback on tuning, but no personal experience to speak of.

Other than that, I've never had any of my performance cars wrenched on in the STL area. Fortunately I haven't had the need, but I'd make the drive to a trusted tuner for the piece of mind anyday. I've been to AMS in Chicago twice to get my IX tuned and re-tuned already!

Wouldn't touch them with a 39 1/2" pole.

I think some of us my try and get mellon up to STL, or cruise down one day for a group tuning session. I would trust my tune with mellon. I have talked to them a bit, and have read no negative reviews at all.
