Question Any Import Parts Shops in Indianapolis Area

Does anyone know of a good import parts shop in the Indianapolis or southwestern Indiana area? I am looking for a good shop to buy from and it would be nice to see parts before you buy them.

woot, another Evo close to me. I live in Camby, right near Mooresville on the Southwest side of Indy.

There is Indy Race Core's on the east side, but they are very slow at getting things done. I had some work done on my supercharged Mustang at a place off of 67 which also handles imports, and the owner seemed to do real good work.

I do all the work on my Evo myself, what are you looking to buy? I already have a lot of the stuff people start out with (boost control, exhaust, fuel mgmt, cams, and a exedy twin disc clutch on the way).

There's a guy in a black STi that lives close to us; if you run across him don't worry - you can take him. He's a wussy driver

You can see the pics of mine and his car at my website listed in the signature. Let's meet up!

Hey Avatar,

I live right outside Evansville so you are little bit away from me, but not too far. Really, I am just looking for parts as I like to perform all my own work unless it requires specialized tools. I work as an automotive engineer at the Toyota truck/SUV/minivan plant in Princeton. I have had a ’96 twin turbo Supra in the past and I’m just getting back into turbo cars with my Evo VIII. The only thing that is really taboo that I haven’t tried before would be an electronic boost controller and the fuel management computers. Right now, here is what I would like to get for my Evo:

Intake – Probably RMR
Electronic Boost Controller – Greddy Profec B Spec II
Fuel Management – Apex’i SAFC, SAFC 2 or HKS AFR
Blow Off Valve – Forge VTA or HKS SS VTA
Exhaust – Ultimate Racing full 3” turbo back or wait for the HKS kit to be released

I notice that you run the Apex’i SAFC. I have never used a fuel management computer before and I don’t have access to a dyno really. I would like to know if they are relatively easy to install & program and what your thoughts are on the SAFC versus the SAFC 2 or the HKS AFR?

Also, are the HKS cams relatively easy to install and what kind of results did you get out of them? Was the power increase noticeable and worth the money?

Finally, how difficult is it to replace the clutches in these cars? I haven’t even looked yet, but I was concerned with all the all wheel drive stuff under there that it might be very difficult to do on your own. Will you replace your own clutch? Is that the only weak link in the drive-train? I remember the stock Supra drive-train was almost bulletproof up to 800 hp. I would like to run at least mid 12s in the quarter and keep the car very reliable. Any input you could give would be a tremendous help to a fellow Hoosier and a guy that is new to Mitsubishis.

Thanks man!

Hello fellow Indiana boys! I'm in Kokomo, IN, about 40 minutes North of Indy. I don't have an Evolution, but I have a LOT of experience modify Nissan SR20DE powered cars which are a close cousin to the 4G63. If anyone, even in the Midwest, needs some experienced hands and a good place to work on their call, feel free to hit me up. People from www.sr20deforum.com come from states around to have me swap engines in their Sentras and do all kinds of work. I have a heated and air conditioned 4 car garage with the tools to do just about anything (hydraulic press, electric impact, etc etc). I'd love to get into the Evolution world as it is currently my DREAM car. I'll take one in red please with a Vishu Stage 0 kit
