Import Face Off Chicago! Let's Go!
A few AMS employees are heading out there... Bringing three cars. Mark's AT converted GVR4, Scott's Evil Evo1 and Chris's KA-T powered 240sx
The plan is for one car to run a 10 another to run a 9 and the third run an 8.
To figure out which runs what.... you better show up!!!!

It was a LONG day but we all had fun and everybody left with running cars.... for the most part.
This was the maiden voyage for PS2 (Power Slave II is the nick for Chris's F250 turbo diesel) and my 42' three car open towing 3 cars. We have towed two cars with it before. We were concerned how it would handle the extra weight. Stopping at a truck scale we got it weighed and it clocked in at 21,000 lbs. We were over the rear axle rating and CGVWR by about a thousand pounds. Not too bad. The truck and trailer are the best thing since sliced bread. We got there with no issues what so ever. It pulls no problem at 70 mph.
On to the racing.
Chris unfortunately did not qualify for the Outlaw class. They cap the field at 4 cars for some reason and he was qualified 5th and was bumped from the class.
Scott qualified for the Outlaw class. The field consisted of a full tube chassis Mazda R100 with a liberty trans and 30"+ tires on the back running a rotory on alchy with nitrous (I have seen the car run high 7s before), a Toyota Starlet 3/4 chassis with a G-Force trans running 30" tires with a rotory motor running alchy (I have seen this car run mid 8s), Scott's Evil Evo 1 and an Evo 3 (possibly) full caged race car.
Mark qualified near the top in the Street class.
Scott came home with a second place payout. I will let him chime in with his times.
Mark came home with a runner up payout in a 16ish car field. He probably would have won the event but his 2 year old 37R finally gave up the ghost in the semi final round. I will let him chime in with his times.
Chris had a good time running test and tune running within 2 tenths of his personal best on a track that was not prepped exceptionally well. I will let him chime in on his passes.
We are downloading the vids we shot and should have a decent vid up in the next day or so.

What a day. After battling some nitrous gremlins all day and crappy 60 foots. I get one good pass in and stupid me just had a total blonde moment shifts into neutral. I coasted to a 11.3 @ 105 mph.
I made it to semi finals of the day. Line up spool it up a little, nitrous kicks in car goes.. Then loses all power and nothing but smoke behind me.. I keep in it.. Picks back up and then just falls again.. Time for a new turbo there is more then a 1/2 inch of shaft play and smokes like a *****. Should note I have 50+ passes on this 37r plus a lot of dyno time, and man many street passes.. It has got good use =)
All in all it was a good day had fun! Congrads to the evo who won street class if you are on here. Special thanks to everybody @ AMS who came out and supported!

Thanks Mark! I planned on doing 2 passes today on the test and tune lane. Then as I was getting inspected cliff that was working for the crew that put this together told me he really wanted me to race in the street class. I told him I wasent interested because I have never been to a drag strip before, let alone I have a stock turbo and stock clutch tuned on 93. I have mostly all of the bolt ons as well as cams, but didn't think it was worth the time considering I was going to do bad. Then cliff told me he would pay the extra money for me to register in the street class. Well somehow I fell asleep at the line during the race for 1st place an ran a 12.7 @ 111 mph. Ehh, I wished to run a 11.9 but I guess I needed more practice than 3 whole passes in my life at a drag strip. I won some cash which made the trip worth while. Like Ivan said, the track was pretty slick, I never thought I was gonna spin in 1st gear.
It was nice to see you guys from AMS show up with their personal cars!
Maybe when I get a Exedy twin disc, and a AMS turbo I will have more practice and better numbers to talk about!
