ACT clutch install

Starting at 6pm tonight, I will be installing my new clutch. Not all parts are in yet but i figured I would get the transmission dropped that way I can just install and put it all back together. I will have pictures of this long and grueling process put up. Wish me luck.

Crappy cell phone pic. Took all the wheels off to clean them all. They needed. I also need my tires rotated badly! 1 hour of work so far. Battery, tray, uicp, wheels, bov, all taken off.

Actually, from what I've heard, getting the transmission back in is the hardest part. Getting everything to line up and not knocking off that stupid little clip can be the worst.

I keep debating whether or not I want to try this myself or skip the hassle and pay AMS to do it.

Good Luck Man

Wasn't for me, everything was simple up until the point I had to actually get the trans out. Getting it back in was easy. . In hindsight having a brace between the motor and the firewall may have helped because I think the motor shifted and gave me less room to pull the trans out.

Just do a lot of reading, research and looking at your car before you start tearing it apart. Aside from getting the tranny out of the car(for me) I really didn't encounter any problem points and I'm far from a mechanic.

I had my ACT Street clutch+Streetlite flywheel installed 2 days ago and it feels much more advanced than the stock clutch. I'm not very educated or experienced with transmission work on my type of vehicle, so I thought it would be best to turn my car into the hands of my tuner/mechanic. He charged me a total $625 for the entire install including the fluid replacement and tax and all. The clutch does take some getting used to. There is a 1,000 mile break-in period that is advised. That break-in period involves no-launching. You can rev the car to redline, but you you're advised not to launch the car during that time period. Overall, I have no regrets on my brand new clutch/flywheel.

I would not rev it to redline either. Keeping it under 5k is the best bet.
