A Good Shop in the Midwest
A Good Shop in the Midwest
Does anyone know of a good, inexpensive shop that doesn't charge like a hundred bucks an hour to do work on your car.. who's experienced with evos around central IL?
I've been recommended devotuning, but looking in the threads below, they've been closed? I don't really see verification on that..
Would you guys recommend getting alignments and stuff done at like a regular shop (tires plus, goodyear)? Or do evos need something a little more specialized?

With AMS increasingn their exposure and all I would think their work would start getting up there in price...Personally, I've had my alignments done @ local tire shops and the numbers have been fine...
AMS is going to be able to make sure your car stays dependable. You get what you pay for. With AMS you are paying for Experience, not to mention their warranty. Their parts are not overly expensive, especially with what you get with them. Which is real R&D with reliablity, durablility and longevity in mind. Not trying to be a sac rider, just stating facts.
Honestly, I've paid more for installation than for parts over there (AMS).
There's no one else cheaper? I should really be learning how to DIY for some of this stuff, but I really don't trust myself.

Depending on what you're looking to get done you may be safe bargain shopping, heck you may be able to find someone at pep boys to do it off hours for bottom dollar but at the same time you may also end up paying someone to screw up your car.
If it were me and I wasn't going to do it myself I would pay pay the extra few dollars a hour for labor to have someone who knew what they were doing do it right.

I am not sure what you bought where installation was more than the parts but that is not uncommon. A head gasket is cheap but installing one costs a bunch.
AMS is very fair about pricing and labor rates. We actually charge a lot less than the local KIA dealer per hour.
When it comes to alignments, a quality regular tire shop should be all you need unless you have more specialized suspension / racing requirements.
