Then again, this is Illinois. .
Is that right? Jesus.

If anyone in the Chicagoland area needs a good traffic lawyer, I suggest giving this fine gentleman a call:

Lawrence "Larry" Dohman
1813 Hicks Road, Rolling Meadows, IL 60008
(847) 359-4005

I'm pretty sure that 90+% of the work Larry does is traffic related, and if he can't help you, nobody will be able to. I was referred to him by Eric G@AMS (they know each other very well from what I understand... ), and have benefited from his services at least once, as has fostytou.

edit: just read the article in its entirety, so I'll share my recent Larry story:

Last summer I was stopped on Rt.59 southbound around 8:00am for going too fast. Can't exactly recall how fast... but it was something stupid like 85 in a 45 (spare me the lecture, I know it was dumb). I hired Larry (think I paid $300, not entirely sure, could have been a bit less), and we show up for court in Oct. '10. Larry talks to the prosecutor, who flat out refuses to even consider me granting supervision due to the speed and my record (I have one ticket on my record from June '09 for improper lane usage--a whole other story). Despite this, we appear before the judge, where the prosecutor states her reasons to deny me for supervision. Larry entered a "blind plea" of guilty, and the judge without batting an eye, granted me 1yr supervision with standard fines and said "Frankly I'm surprised you were able to go that fast at that time of the morning..." and I was on my way home, out only the lawyer fee (note: you have until the end of your supervision period to pay your fines :P). Sure $300 seems steep for what essentially amount to less than 30 minutes of work, but that is easily recovered in the extra insurance you would pay over the course of the 3 years that most insurance companies hold you financially accountable for tickets. Money well spent IMO.
